Amazon Software Development Engineer II, Last Mile Delivery Technology in Bellevue, Washington

Description

The Last Mile team helps get packages from delivery stations to a customer’s doorstep. To provide new innovations for customers, we are building a globally connected fleet of delivery vehicles. We are combining cutting-edge IoT technologies (sensors, embedded devices, wearables, and robotics), real-time data streams (video, vehicle telematics, location, and presence), together with machine learning models and algorithms – to create solutions that allow us to deliver faster, and with more confidence. Key job responsibilities

As a Software Development Engineer, you will be responsible for translating business and functional requirements into concrete deliverables with the design, development, testing, and deployment of highly scalable distributed services. You will partner with applied scientists and peer engineers to help invent, implement, and connect sophisticated algorithms to our edge and cloud based engines. Knowledge of research domains including Computer Vision and IoT will give you an edge. You should also be very agile in developing flexible software with respect to scientific, experimentation methods and usage patterns.

A day in the life

  1. Developing and maintaining core system features

  2. Helping define product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product

  3. Working with scientists and other engineers to investigate design approaches, prototype new technology, and evaluate technical feasibility

  4. Operate in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality software against customer commitments

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $115,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
