Amazon Principal Technical Program Manager , Relay Safety and Trust in Bellevue, Washington
Description
The Relay Products organization provides technology products that power a vast global middle-mile network of carriers and drivers, moving goods between facilities in a sophisticated ballet of predictive planning, intelligent automation and user-friendly mobile and web apps.
This role involves technical leadership of the Relay Safety for drivers including app workflow, routing rules and compliance, analytics and related internal products for traffic management. We use cutting edge technology including telematics, machine vision and digital document exchange to guide drivers and ensure efficient traffic flow for hundreds of thousands of trips daily across our global network. This role requires an aptitude for working with cutting-edge technology, operational metrics and a passion for finding creative solutions to delight our customers. It also calls for excellent judgement honed by practical experience, and the organizational skills to lead the product through change, evolution, and sustained growth.
You will be expected to have an established background in product development, excellent project management skills, great communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should enjoy diving deep into complex problems, and center around metrics to define objectives, measure progress and meet goals.
Key job responsibilities
Responsibilities include collection of business and systems requirements from internal and external customers, writing specifications, driving project schedules from design to release, and managing the production launch. You will lead and coordinate design/implementation efforts, coordinating across multiple teams to develop optimal solutions. You will be expected to make appropriate tradeoffs to optimize time-to-market, clearly communicate goals, roles, responsibilities, and desired outcomes to internal cross-functional and remote project teams.
The right candidate will possess a strong program management background, will have demonstrated experience leading medium to large projects across multiple teams, and will have a well-rounded technical background in current web technologies. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves, dig in and get the job done. As a TPM, you will anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make tradeoffs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints. An ability to take large, complex projects and break them down into manageable pieces, develop functional specifications, then deliver them in a successful and timely manner is expected. Maturity, high judgment, negotiation skills, ability to influence, analytical talent and leadership are essential to success in this role.
Basic Qualifications
7+ years of technical product or program management experience
10+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
5+ years of software development experience
Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules
Preferred Qualifications
8+ years of hands-on work managing complex technology projects experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $159,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $275,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
