PACCAR Counsel in Bellevue, Washington

Job Title: Counsel

Job Duties: Research legal problems regarding intellectual property issues, including trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets, defending the company from third-party claims, including intellectual property infringement claims, contracts and privacy matters, and develops opinions on legal issues, legislation and regulations.  Prepare legal analyses and provide interpretations and recommendations to law department.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies or Law, or foreign degree equivalent, and a Limited License to Practice Law as Counsel in Washington State, a pending application for such license, or a license to practice law in any state.  Also requires five years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience as a lawyer, which includes three years of experience providing legal advice to an automotive manufacturing company:

  • Drafting, negotiating, and coordinating the execution of agreements pertaining to the following: purchasing; events; marketing; new technologies; SaaS; intellectual property; data privacy and cybersecurity; non-disclosure agreements; construction services; customer maintenance services; trucks, trucks components and parts warranty; and providing contract support to Legal and Procurement teams for global and local vendors.
  • Managing and supervising five outside counsel on matters relating to labor, tax, consumer, vehicle dealership, data privacy, product liability, intellectual property and collection lawsuits.
  • Providing legal advice and counsel regarding data privacy and cybersecurity, data breaches, intellectual property (trademark, copyright, right of publicity, trade secret and patent law issues), contracts, customer and product liabilities, HR, legal settlements, non-disclosure of confidential information, regarding automotive and parts manufacturing and sales, retail and wholesale financing activities, and intellectual property ownership and infringement.
  • Analyzing, providing legal opinions on, drafting and presenting to Management on new developments to U.S., E.U, U.K and Brazilian legislation, rules and regulations relating to personal data, cybersecurity and consumer privacy laws that affect an automotive and parts manufacturing, sales and financing operation.
  • Overseeing global trademark registrations and the prosecution thereof and managing the enforcement of trademark infringement.
  • Reviewing, drafting and revising policies and procedures pertaining to automotive dealerships, data privacy, product liability, intellectual property, and collections.
  • Preparing data privacy and cybersecurity, purchasing and intellectual property training materials and conducting global and local training sessions on these matters.
  • Providing support to and reviewing Data Protection Impact Assessments, and actively monitoring risk findings and mitigation measures using OneTrust.

Experience may be gained concurrently.

SALARY: Salary of $150,000 to $180,000 per year. This position is also eligible for a holiday gift.
