JOB GOAL/PURPOSE:

To assist the student’s team in implementing individualized instruction to and managing prosocial behavior for a student, ensuring a high standard of learning and care, while fostering the greatest degree of age appropriate independence.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITES:

• Under supervision of the intervention specialist and homeroom teacher, contribute to classroom and school-wide educational program, organization, and management.

  • Provide individual and small group instruction for student, performing various instructional and management tasks

  • Manage student behavior and ensure a safe and positive learning environment

  • Observe, record, and report on student learning and behavior

  • Attend all specialist classes with student

  • Ensure student’s dignity is protected and identity accepted

  • Accompany student on field trips and After School Activities (ASAs), as needed

    • Assist with organization and management of curricular areas as directed by the intervention specialist and homeroom teacher.

  • Preparation and creation of instructional materials

  • Collaboratively plan with teachers to ensure consistency of program

    • Demonstrate care for students, colleagues, and the school community.

  • Build positive relationships with student and colleagues

  • Demonstrate safe, ethical and responsible behavior

    • Demonstrate understanding of confidential and sensitive information.

  •  Maintain confidentiality of all student information (i.e. documents, communications, grades, attendance, etc.)

    • Contribute to overall school program.

  • Complete supervisory duties assigned to ensure safety and learning environment for student

  • Participate in grade level and faculty meeting as requested

  • Comply with ISB’s guidelines regarding employee dress, conduct, and behavior

    • Bachelor’s degree with at least two years of full-time working experience preferred

    • Proficient in English, both written and spoken

    • Experience and/or knowledge of a Western educational setting preferred

    • Able to carry out directions from the intervention specialist and homeroom teacher

    • Experience with and knowledge of students with special needs

    • Ability to work as a member of a team

    • Possess sufficient mobility to carry out assigned duties
