Emerson Finance Controller in Beijing, China

Job Summary :

The Finance Controller is the site finance leader for 2 legal entities (one JV and one foreign owned) & is responsible for leading and managing the finance team of both entities.

In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • To lead and manage finance team, ensuring adherence to guidelines and procedures of Emerson, US government and local government. Supervision of adequate internal control and adherence to the company policies

  • Advises accounting with policy, procedures & systems vital for proper accounting practices, controls & services. To ensure strong governance and control of Financial and Tax activities and ensuring the both local legislative and global policy requirements are met.

  • Act as a liaison point between business divisions, global functions (such as Treasury, Legal, Tax, Commercial, BU/Asia/China HQ) and local businesses in optimizing the set up and exploring new business opportunities/Challenges. Manage cash flow, capital budget, tax compliance to support business grow. Provide financial analysis in daily operation

  • Advises & reviews all periodic financial reports, ensure all financial/management reports are accurate and timely

  • Advises accounting, property accounting, internal /external auditing, control & record retention, ICQ. Support the audits and the closing out of actions

  • Provide commercial support to China big project/local partnered Chinese partner around improving and collecting customer invoice payments and overdue debt

  • Responsible for establishing & administrating the organization's annual budget, monthly POR and other financial goals.

  • Be responsible for driving the Organization result and have ownership to organization P&L. Set up functional objectives to align with business goal

  • Interprets organization's operating results & communicates results to management, local partner and board.

  • Lead all aspects of total China M&A financials and business. Closely support and work with non-Beijing site function such as M&A china business leader, sales/customer care team and etc

  • Lead or sponsor sophisticated and critical projects in BU and China region. Provide effective leading in difficult or sophisticated situation. Able to feedback potential issues on the lines to manager for actions

  • Support Site Operation Vice President as a business partner to the business heads in using financial data to achieve the company's key performance targets and in evaluating future business opportunities

  • Develop good working relationship with Chinese partner

  • Maintain good relationships with local banks, tax Authority, auditors, custom and other government office.

  • Set the tone for strong ethics and high integrity

  • Uphold Emerson values and promote safety culture in the department.

  • Put in place a finance organization structure that can support the current & future business needs.

  • Nurture and develop finance team to ensure work proficiency, back up for key positions & realise full potential of the team.

  • Work on a succession plan and develop high potential staff to meet organizations business needs

Who You Are:

In This Role, You Will Need:

  • Professional background in Accounting / Finance or equivalent experience.

  • More than 10 years working experience in finance, 5 years+ working experience at Manufacturing, including 6-8 years management experience.

  • Solid understanding of China and US GAAP, local regulatory rules, banking regulations, custom & tax laws

  • Be familiar with operation procedures of foreign invested company.

  • Strong written and oral communications skills in both English and Chinese.

  • Comfortable working in a shared service & matrix environment.

  • Ability to maintain good working relationship with partners and work under pressure.

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart :

  • Proficient with ERP systems (Oracle) & Microsoft suite.

  • MBA will be added advantage.

  • JV background is preferred.

  • Presentation skill is preferred.
