MITRE Enterprise Communications team is creating impactful brand storytelling, immersive experiences, and differentiated content for our people, sponsors, partners, influencers, and the communities in which we work and live. We are looking for a Writer/Editor to create engaging stories and content packages that will promote MITRE’s global impact and illustrate how we deliver on our mission of Solving Problems for a Safer World.

This role requires top-notch editorial, project management and interpersonal skills. You’re a big-picture content strategist but still obsess over the little details that make a story shine.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Brainstorm, outline, and write original content and marketing materials that speak to MITRE’s legacy, brand, and mission.

  • Introduce and help shape new storytelling experiences across internal and external websites, social media, paid media, video, and podcasts.

  • Build subject-matter expertise that supports MITRE’s key differentiators and horizon strategies.

  • Synthesize complex, highly technical subject matter into consumable, engaging content suited for various channels and audiences.

  • Work with Data & Insights team to track and measure content performance and adjust strategy to meet marketing and communications goals.

  • Consistently meet deadlines and cross-departmental campaign timelines.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.

  • Creative yet detail-oriented content author with excellent writing skills.

  • Exceptional knowledge of AP Style and experience editing and writing for various channels and platforms

  • Ability to write creatively but think objectively, always double- and triple-checking content for brand voice, style, quality, and accuracy.

  • Keen attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage a variety of tasks and stakeholders simultaneously, often under pressure and on deadline.

  • Professional experience in content creation/production/development.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide status updates to various stakeholders, including progress and any adjustments that may occur across multiple campaigns.

  • Strong project management, people management, time management, organizational and listening skills.

  • A college degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field
