About the role

As a CBRE Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager, you will be in charge of crafting, implementing, and continually improving HSE programs for our employees at a large client site in the Portland metro area. You will also collaborate with external stakeholders to safeguard employees and surrounding communities.

What you’ll do

  • Champion a culture of Safety Excellence: Lead by example, demonstrate commitment to CBRE’s RISE values, focus on relationships, and promote contemporary safety principles and best practices.

  • Lead cross-functional teams to manage implementation of the HSE Strategic Plan: purpose, values, vision, goals, objectives, initiatives, measurement, and continuous improvement.

  • Facilitate agreements with internal/external stakeholders, develop implementation plans, and monitor to completion.

  • Partner with teammates to support them in achieving their goals and strategic objectives.

  • Build rapport and trust with employees at all levels of the organization. Solicit feedback to address concerns, support operations, and continuously improve aspects of the HSE Strategic Plan.

  • Work with others to plan, design, build, and promote HSE engagement activities and events.

  • Collect, manipulate, and visualize data for reporting at various organizational levels.

  • Respond to HSE incidents: Facilitate employee support, investigate as appropriate, and develop corrective/preventive actions.

  • Use Continuous Improvement tools (PDCA, Kata, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, etc.) to identify opportunities to align processes across the account.

  • Identify, evaluate, and resolve day-to-day and moderately complex issues which may or may not be evident in existing systems and processes.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain HSE regulatory compliance as required.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred with 3-5 years of relevant experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered.

  • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal safety and environmental requirements, and the ability to translate them into effective programs, projects, and initiatives.

  • Solid leadership and project management skills to build robustness, resiliency, and reliability into our HSE systems.

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills to resolve conflict, build trust, and reach strategic objectives.

  • Ability to handle sensitive, complicated, and complex information and convey performance expectations.

  • Experienced knowledge of MS Office suite and other tools: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Slack

  • Knowledge/experience with modern safety principles, such as Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) and Safety Differently.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the HSE Manager position is $90,000 annually and the maximum salary for the HSE Manager position is $100,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program.
