Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) is looking for a qualified technical leader to join our growing team, serving as a technical manager of our Manufacturing and Process Engineering team. This position will be onsite in Beavercreek, Ohio .

Our engineering team consists of a unique blend of scientists, engineers, and technicians that specialize in antennas, radomes, electromagnetic materials, structures, and RF testing for military aerospace applications. We design and manufacture solutions for our war fighters to keep our country safe and maintain peace on a global scale. Our team is afforded the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art designs, primarily for classified applications, in both team and individual settings. Key Roles and Responsibilities include:

  • Serve in dual capacities as a functional manager, providing direct supervision/management to the Manufacturing and Process Engineering staff and perform as a technical contributor.

  • Support coordination of daily activities, working cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Mission Assurance to drive specific tasks to team members, including readiness reviews.

  • Responsible to develop and maintain best practice department standards and command media relevant to the Manufacturing and Process Engineering department.

  • Management of department budget and direct labor rates.

  • Participation in capital expense planning and execution, including change board discussions.

  • Support Material Review Board discussions as a certified approval authority.

  • Support marketing and proposal activities relevant to manufacturing and process opportunities.

  • Daily approval and management of direct report timekeeping.

  • Conduct 1:1 meetings, mid-year, and end of year performance reviews with direct reports.

  • Participate and/or lead team meetings, including cross-functional meetings.

  • Assist in root cause/corrective action activities.

  • Manage direct report execution of training, along with employee goals and development.

  • Maintain relevant qualifications and employee certification to those qualifications.

  • Manage staffing decisions (recruiting/hiring/termination) to meet business needs.

  • Work with local security staff to ensure activities are performed in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures and/or approved security CONOPS.

Travel can vary but is typically very minimal.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) field and 9 years of relevant experience; OR Master's degree in a relevant STEM field and 7 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD SECRET clearance, and ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Programs (SAP).

  • 7 years of industrial experience in manufacturing, to include experience with composites.

Preferred Qualifications (above and beyond basic):

  • Active SECRET clearance with existing or prior access to Special Access Programs (SAP).

  • 10 years' experience in aerospace composites and assemblies.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Able to convey knowledgeable and hands-on experience of various aerospace grade adhesives, composites, metallics, and coatings.

  • Ability to balance functional management responsibilities while working alongside and leading direct reports on daily work scope.

  • Knowledgeable and hands-on experience with curing equipment such as autoclaves and ovens.

  • Knowledgeable or hands-on experience with chemical coating and etching processes.

  • Familiarity with CNC machining of composites and metallics.

  • Familiarity with common metrology tools and usage.

  • Familiarity with microscopy and surface profiling.

  • Ideal candidate is a proven leader, highly responsible, level-headed, action-oriented, able to see the big picture, high-quality decision-making capability, and are able to influence.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills and be a strong communicator, both written and spoken.

  • Ability to communicate across all levels of an organization and with external customers; cross-functional collaboration is critical to success in this role.

Salary Range: $114,100 - $171,100

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
