Amazon Project Specialist - VAT Compliance, 3P - International Indirect Tax Compliance in Barcelona, Spain

Description

Amazon's diverse online business requires VAT filings in a number of jurisdictions across Europe and creates specific VAT compliance obligations relating to third parties (3P) that sell via our websites. The tax 3P obligations are the responsibility of the International Indirect Tax Compliance team based in Bratislava, where we are looking for a smart, passionate candidate to join us focused on project management and process improvements within tax.

In this role, you will be supporting teams across Europe and Internationally working cross-functionally across businesses/ technology teams to understand and map current processes and lead process and productivity improvements- with a focus on the tools used by Tax managers, Compliance and Business analysts. The successful individual will have regular Director-level visibility delivering scalable, secure, and flexible solutions with strong customer focus across the end-to end project lifecycle.

There is option for this role to be based in our Bratislava office in Slovakia as well.

Key job responsibilities

• End-to-end delivery of assigned projects including their analysing, organization, planning until final results delivery in cross-functional projects

• Review complex business processes in order to identify the grey holes allowing for mistakes with VAT implication.

• Design procedures for VAT compliance & controllership with process-maps

• Perform process analysis to design or redesign multiple integrated process workflows and process issues to ensure that Amazon processes are state of the art, and efficient

• Analyse and improve existing Amazon process methods and workflow to promote effective operations through standardization, improvement, simplification, or discontinuance

• Regularly communicates with management regarding the program’s status and any problems or potential problems

• Coordinates the operation of departments to confirm that assigned tasks are completed according to specifications, budgets, and timelines

• Forecasts potential schedule delays and develops alternate plans

• Provide internal and external audit support, including data analysis.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products and applications at an advanced level

  • Experience working in a large public accounting firm or multi-national corporate tax department

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience maintaining and operating transaction tax calculation software (e.g. Vertex)
