The Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) is a leader in energy and environmental products and services for power and industrial markets worldwide. Our headquarters in Akron, Ohio is currently seeking an Intern/Co-op to join our Construction Estimating team. The internship will provide an educational, hands-on experience to students pursuing careers in Construction Management under the guidance of the Estimating Manager.
- Assist in the development of heavy industrial and power generation construction project estimates
- Perform material quantity takes offs
- Organize and distribute specifications and drawings
- Develop subcontract packages
- Assist senior estimator in compiling information into estimating software programs

``` - Currently enrolled in an accredited two or four-year program, working towards a degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering, Construction Management, or related major - Current GPA of 3.0 or higher, preferred - Strong computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office applications - Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, preferred - Estimating software program experience or other relevant software experience such as AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Primavera, etc., preferred - Experience in reading drawings/blueprints - Construction knowledge or experience - Capacity to handle confidential information - Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills - Ability to follow instructions and work independently with a sense of urgency and enthusiasm - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Positive attitude and willingness to learn - Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
