Job Overview

The Product Engineer will be responsible to provide sustaining activities on our existing product ranges of EN connectors, MIL Aero Connectors manufactured in India as well as globally. The Product Engineer will work with Global and Local teams for product extension and cost out projects to increase product margins and support in product transfers to various locations.

Responsibilities:

• Provide sustaining activities on existing product ranges: EN & MIL AERO Connectors. Involves working closely with cross functional team in plant to provide engineering solution to production / manufacturing / assembly and other related concerns on a daily basis.

• Modification to existing drawings and create models using Solidworks / Creo.

• Work closely with the Global Engineering and project management team to support the transfer of work projects. Responsibilities includes reviewing and understanding the product design, release all drawings, assembly instructions and other engineering documents to help smooth transfer.

• Work closely with the plant team on customer complaint resolution by providing technical support on product design, form and function.

• Support standard body certifications such as ASD Cert for EN / MIL certification for product lines as required.

• Keep abreast of new technologies, materials and processes and use the information to initiate cost saving or product enhancing projects

• Contribute to achieving departmental targets – specifically “Delivery on Time” targets for sustaining activities

• Carry out any other reasonable tasks as may be requested from time to time by the Engineering Manager

• Observe Health and Safety regulations as laid down in company procedures and Government legislation

Candidate Desired Profile:

EDUCATIONAL / CRITICAL COMPETENCIES

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Mechanical Engineering

• 3 – 5 years of work experience in product lifecycle management in Aerospace, Automotive or Industrial domain industries, preferably connector product background.

• Experience in state-of-the-art design tools such as Creo / Solidworks software

• Good knowledge and hands-on experience in PDM Windchill & PLM software

• Experience in design tools such as GD&T, DFMEA, DFM, and Tolerance Stack-ups.

• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes like Molding, Stamping, Plating, other metal forming and plastic miniaturing processes. Added advantage would be good knowledge in additive manufacturing process.

• Experience in Product Design involving plastic and sheet metal parts

• Product knowledge on connector is an advantage.

• Knowledge of Global certifications and Regulatory Standards (EN, MIL etc.) will be an added advantage

• Knowledge of statistical process control methodology, DFSS is an advantage

• Experience in Product testing & qualification

• Exposure & knowledge on electrical system design will be added advantage
