Johns Hopkins University Laboratory Technician in Baltimore, Maryland

There is an opening for a full time Laboratory Technician in the laboratory of Dr. Malia Edwards at the Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Edwards and her team study the role of retinal glia and choroidal mast cells in retinal development and disease. The lab’s primary focus is age-related macular degeneration. The lab utilizes a combination of human donor eyes, animal models and cell culture experiments.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assisting with real time PCR, immunohistochemistry, ELISAs and Western blots.

  • Assisting with data analysis solution preparation in the laboratory and image analysis.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or graduation equivalent with some science coursework.

  • Certificate from technical institute or internship experience preferred. Training Certificate from Technical Institute preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma and a strong desire to learn new skills.

  • They will have the ability to follow precise instructions and work well with the members of the laboratory team.

Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/02/CB

Starting Salary Range: $15.25 - $23.00 HRLY (Commensurate with experience)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
