The University of Maryland School of Social Work is seeking a passionate and experienced DEI Program Training Specialist to support our efforts in promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion.The DEI Training Specialist will be responsible for developing and delivering training programs, creating initiatives around dialogue and restorative practices, completing DEI impact reports, planning training activities, and seeking funding opportunities through grants to support DEI training initiatives. Primary Duties: /Training Program Development/ * Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to assess training needs and priorities related to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) within the School of Social Work. * Collaborate with the DEI Committee and other key units to Design, develop, and implement comprehensive training programs and workshops on DEI topics, including cultural competency, social justice, and anti-oppressive practices, tailored to the needs of different stakeholder groups. * Establish partnerships with external trainers, consultants, and organizations to leverage expertise and resources for DEI training initiatives. * Develop and implement a robust system for training registration and management, including online registration portals, tracking systems, and participant feedback mechanisms. * Field training requests from faculty, staff, students, and external stakeholders, ensuring timely response and coordination of training logistics to meet diverse needs and preferences. * Develop initiatives and programs around dialogue facilitation, restorative practices, conflict resolution, and community building to promote a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusion within the School of Social Work. /Training Delivery and Facilitation/ * Facilitate interactive and engaging training sessions on DEI topics, including but not limited to unconscious bias, cultural competency, inclusive leadership, and equitable practices. * Adapt training content and delivery methods to meet the diverse learning styles and preferences of participants. * Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages open dialogue, reflection, and growth. /Evaluation and Continuous Improvement/ * Develop and implement evaluation tools and metrics to assess the effectiveness of DEI training programs and initiatives. * Collect and analyze feedback from participants to identify strengths, areas for improvement, and opportunities for future training enhancements. * Use evaluation data to make data-driven decisions and recommendations for continuous improvement of DEI training initiatives. /Marketing and Promotion/ * Work with communications staff to Update and maintain the Office of DEI Website * Create promotional materials to increase the visibility of the Office. * Experience working with people from diverse racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds. * Be part of strengthening the School of Social Work’s climate for diversity, equity & inclusion * Assist with promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion activities. * Perform other duties as assigned Education:Bachelors Degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business, Communications, or related field required. Experience:Two (2) years of related experience in employee relations, mediation, diversity programs, or other related business experience required. Preferred Experience:Developing, delivering, and evaluating training programs, preferably in a higher education setting. Other:Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Strong understanding of DEI concepts, theories, and best practices within the context of social work education and practice. * Experience in facilitating dialogue, restorative practices, and conflict resolution processes. * Proven ability to conduct research, analyze data, and prepare comprehensive reports. * Demonstrated success in grant writing and fundraising for DEI initiatives and programs. * Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills. * Commitment to social justice, equity, and inclusion, and a passion for promoting positive change within higher education. /The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $70,000s to mid $80,000s, commensurate with education and experience./ UMB is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
