CareFirst Contracts Coordinator (Hybrid) in Baltimore, Maryland
Resp & Qualifications
PURPOSE:
This position drafts, reviews, and negotiates commercial contracts across all lines of business to ensure legal and commercial sufficiency, compliance with corporate policies and procedures, and overall contract quality assurance. This position also provides general support to the Office of Corporate Counsel's contract review processes and workflows, including contractual support to attorneys.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial vendor contracts, including, but not limited to, Consulting Services Agreements, Statements of Work, Software License Agreements, SaaS Agreements, Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) and amendments; ensuring that all contracts adhere to applicable standards and corporate legal policies and are internally consistent and appropriately address legal and risk considerations.
Identify, communicate and escalate contract issues and material deviations from established contract guidelines to the Managing Assistant General Counsel.
Monitor procurement and contract risks to ensure adherence to applicable CareFirst Risk standards. Work closely with attorneys to gather legal and business advice, ensure compliance, and mitigate contractual risk.
Provide support to the general contracting work of the OCC and various attorneys.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education Level: Bachelor's Degree OR in lieu of a Bachelor's degree, an additional 4 years of relevant work experience is required in addition to the required work experience.
Experience: 3 years experience in corporate contracting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Juris Doctor or Bachelors degree in business administration, management or related field.
Demonstrated experience with contract drafting, contract terms and conditions and contract negotiations. Ability to analyze and provide input into commercial terms and other contractual considerations.
Knowledge of the FAR/HIPAA/Medicare regulations.
Basic understanding of property/casualty/professional liability insurance and risk management principles.
Knowledge of Ariba or similar procurement automation tools.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
Excellent project coordination and time management skills. Ability to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence.
Ability to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to internal and external customers, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Ability to apply complex problem-solving and analytical abilities to achieve problem and process solutions. Ability to spot, communicate and mitigate issues.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.
Salary Range: $58,320 - $115,830
