The Whiting School of Engineering now seeks a dynamic, forward-thinking and highly effective Associate Dean for Lifelong Learning (ADLL) to lead its new non-degree, non-credit unit in expanding access to professional education and serving the needs of a changing workforce across the nation and beyond.

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice Dean for Professional Education, this position is an integral part of the school’s leadership team. The ADLL will envision and lead the development, implementation and ongoing assessment of a vision and strategy for online and on-site non-credit professional education across the Whiting School in alignment with WSE strategic goals and priorities. The ADLL will work closely with the Dean’s Executive Council, WSE Departmental Heads/Chairs and representatives of the JHU Applied Physics Lab, as well as with support units including the Office of External Affairs, the Office of Corporate Engagement, and the Center for Learning Design and Technology. Of special note, the ADLL will have the opportunity to leverage content from 600+ online courses that compose the highly ranked Engineering for Professionals part-time master’s degree programs across 25 engineering and applied science disciplines.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Establish strategy and implementation plans for all WSE non-degree, non-credit educational programs to spur significant growth.

  • Maintain profit and loss responsibility for the unit.

  • Lead the discovery, planning and implementation of new non-degree programs, working closely with on-campus and industry partners.

  • Select 3rd party vendors for various support functions.

  • Handle other appropriate matters as assigned by the WSE Executive Leadership Council.

  • An educational philosophy that embraces students of all backgrounds, including the engagement of diverse students.

  • Experience with MOOC education platforms.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, exercise discretion and mature judgment and manage multiple priorities at once.

  • Strong organizational, collaboration and management skills, including planning, project management and supervisory skills.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Ten year's experience working with executive management in an executive-level office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree.

  • Experience leading a non-degree, non-credit division for a School of Engineering.

Starting Salary Range: $200,000 - $260,000 Annually (Commensurate with experience)
