The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for a Supervisor, Bus Maintenance Non-Revenue Fleet Maintenance in the Office of Facilities and Support Services. The Supervisor Bus Maintenance Non-Revenue Fleet Maintenance is required to supervise vehicle repair, maintenance, and inspection performed in the Non-Revenue Fleet Maintenance Shop. The employee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and personnel forecasting for the servicing of MTA light, medium, and heavy-duty vehicles. The work in this classification also involves tracking and executing provisions of the labor contract, MTA Rules, Regulations and Policies. Employees in this class directly supervise staff of the Non-Revenue Fleet Maintenance Shop including "A", "B", and "C" Repairpersons and Cleaners. Employees receive general supervision from the Non-Revenue Fleet Maintenance Shop Superintendent of Vehicle Maintenance and Oversight and other designated officials from the Office of Facilities and Support Services. Employees will be required to travel and work outdoors at various locations throughout the MTA service area in all types of weather conditions and perform other functions as necessary.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate,
Experience: Four (4) years of experience in repair, maintenance and inspection of heavy-duty automotive vehicles and equipment. Three (3) of the four (4) years must have been in the following: gasoline and diesel-powered vehicle maintenance; automotive mechanical and electrical systems maintenance; and interpreting automotive diagrams and schematics.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION
Additional technical or vocational training may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the experience requirement on a year for year basis.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employee may be subject to call-in 24 hours a day and may be required to
maintain a reliable communication link for the purpose of emergency call back
requirements.
Employee will be required to work shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekends.
Employee may be exposed to a variety of hazards, requiring the wearing of
protective clothing and the use of appropriate safety and Personal Protective
Equipment.
Employees in this position are considered "Essential Employees" and will be
required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential
Employee" status.
