General description Join the Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust Company as a Senior Investment Accountant! Work involves performing highly advanced (senior-level) investment accounting work. Work involves preparing and/or overseeing the preparation of investment analyses and reports; posting, verifying, and/or reconciling investment transactions and positions; and establishing, maintaining, and/or overseeing accounting systems, procedures, and controls. May plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year university with a bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or a related business field. Over six years of full-time experience in accounting or investment-related field. Preferred Qualifications: MBA with a concentration in accounting or finance. One year of full-time experience in investment accounting or investment operations. Substitution: MBA with a concentration in accounting or finance may substitute for one year of full-time experience in accounting or investment-related field. Qualifications: In this role, your responsibilities will include: Analyzes, posts and/or coordinates posting of securities transactions including trading activity, principal and income transactions, and corporate actions. Initiates, reviews, and/or approves investment transactions including capital calls, distributions, purchases, redemptions, and valuation updates. Ensures all transactions are posted accurately and timely and reconciled or reviewed on a daily basis. Performs daily, weekly, and/or monthly reconciliations or verification of investment positions, market values, unfunded commitments, transactions, cash balances, and performance. Prepares and/or oversees the preparation of investment reports including valuation reports, trading activity reports, performance reports, and other reports as needed. Maintains the quality control of the investment accounting systems and ensures the integrity of the data and data processing. Reviews and maintains accurate securities data in the accounting and performance systems. Develops and documents procedures and controls. Provides backup and support to other team members. Performs other related work as assigned. Knowledge of: Investment terminology and processes. Fixed-income security characteristics. Asset types. Interest accruals. Analysis and reconciliation of financial information. Skill in: Using advanced features in Excel spreadsheets. Using complex accounting systems such as QED, S mCorp Dimension, or Private i. Effectively conveying information and encouraging an exchange of ideas. Identifying, defining, and solving problems. Ability to: Exercise attention to detail. Exercise sound judgement in making critical decisions. Gather and interpret relevant data and information. Act in the best interest of the agency, maintain confidentiality and continually strive to improve self and job performance. Maintain confidentiality and protect the privacy of state employees, taxpayers, and other members of the public. Follow all agency confidentiality, privacy, and information security policies and procedures. Appropriately store, secure, and protect sensitive records and other confidential documents and data in accordance with the agencys certified Records Retention Schedule. Seek guidance and clarification from relevant agency specialists when potential confidential issues arise. Use discretion and appropriate judgement in communicating confidential and sensitive information. Work with others to achieve a common goal. Adjust to changing workplace demands. Meet the needs and expectations of internal and external customers. Effectively demonstrate skill and ability to perform the specific job duties and tasks as defined by a job description.
