Whole Foods Market Senior Team Leader, Inbound Logistics - Perishables in Austin, Texas

Job DescriptionAt Whole Foods Market, we believe in fostering an environment where great food and great service go hand in hand. We’re seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to guide our Logistics team. This role will oversee the management of inbound freight, ensuring that all of our products move smoothly through the entire supply chain. You’ll work collaboratively across departments, helping to streamline processes from procurement to warehousing to distribution, all while maintaining our high standards of quality and sustainability. Your leadership will be key in creating a seamless, efficient flow of goods, helping us provide the best products to our customers and making every step of the journey feel as purposeful as the products we carry.

This role is based in Austin, TX, with an expectation of being in the Store Support office five days a week.

Responsibilities:

  • Directs the activities of the Logistics teams and Team Leaders.

  • Ensures the alignment between internal teams and the overall Supply Chain and Logistics strategy and objectives.

  • Accountable for the day-to-day and longer-term planning, initiatives, and operations.

  • Ensures Logistics, transportation management, buying, and related processes are effectively integrated and fit for purpose.

  • Monitors Logistics, transportation, and related metrics on a cross-region, cross-product basis to identify patterns, trends, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.

  • Engages with senior-level third-party stakeholders to assess performance, identify issues and inconsistencies, and develop resolution strategies.

  • Works closely with the regional, operational, and other groups to understand potential business changes and their impact on global Logistics processes and operations.

  • Ensures anticipated regional, operational, and other changes are accounted for / considered in Logistics’ strategy development, budget planning, priority setting, and business management discussions.

  • Contributes to the functional budget forecasting and planning.

  • Engages with the business leaders to identify gaps in Logistics, issues with related transportation and distribution channels, formulate resolution strategies and deliver clear and compelling communications.

  • Translates overarching strategic objectives into clear, actionable steps at the local and regional level.

  • Identifies the risks and threats in current and emerging operational strategies and outcomes.

  • Understands how the risks and threats may impact business operations, financial returns and the company’s competitive position.

  • Collaborates cross-functionally to ensure the implications inherent in Logistics analyses are understood and form the basis for sound decision-making.

  • Leads detailed task / project planning, including cost, schedule and resource requirements.

  • Ensures planning incorporates data and information from the perspective of the customer, supplier, partner and company.

  • Collaborates with the task / project stakeholders to identify, evaluate and resolve emerging and anticipated issues.

  • Leverages the data-driven insights to recommend, implement and continuously improve the task / project management and delivery methodology.

  • Demonstrates clear understanding of WFM’s core business and customer / market / partner interfaces.

  • Assesses how products, processes and operating models impact the company’s business and financial performance.

  • Understands how changes in the customer expectations, the competition, new business, new markets, and evolving strategies impact the company’s competitive position and long-term prospects.

Education & Experience:

  • BA/BS degree and 6-8 years’ relevant experience OR equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • 2-4 years’ leadership experience.
