Foundation Communities Senior Program Coordinator in Austin, Texas

Position Description : The Senior Program Coordinator oversees day-to-day operations of the Health Coverage program, including appointment schedules, staff training, one-on-one client support, and preparations for Open Enrollment. This position also supervises and supports Health Coverage staff (permanent and temporary) and volunteers.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

  • With the Health Coverage Program Manager, develop program structure and operations that lead to the successful completion of program goals and all grant requirements.

  • With the Health Coverage Program Coordinators, develop and implement operating procedures to promote empathetic and efficient service delivery.

  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and support to Health Coverage staff and volunteers to ensure strong performance and employee engagement.

  • Maintain relevant certifications (including Community Health Worker certification and Navigator certification through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) while proactively expanding knowledge and expertise in health coverage and the local health delivery system

  • With a trauma-informed approach, help clients enroll in health insurance and utilize their coverage to receive care.

  • Organize, create, update, and maintain training materials; deliver training for staff and volunteers on year-round and open enrollment topics; utilize existing and new training software and platforms.

  • Serve as a designated site manager or supervising site manager during Open Enrollment as needed.

  • Assist with client engagement and communication with existing and new clients and manage phone banking projects including Document Uploads, Coverage to Care and Marketplace Assister Community (MAC).

  • With the Health Coverage Program Coordinators, oversee the collection of client stories along with accurate and timely data entry.

  • Other duties as assigned

    Minimum Requirements

  • Expertise in health insurance, particularly the Federally Facilitated Marketplace and the local healthcare delivery system

  • Ability to maintain and expand expertise by following current events and policy changes, reviewing research, and meeting with local stakeholders

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing

  • Experience coordinating community programs or services

  • Experience supervising staff

  • Ability to maintain composure and patience in stressful situations

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills

  • Proficiency in using standard office computer programs and databases

  • Ability to work on a team while also handling individual responsibilities independently

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with people from diverse backgrounds

  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion

    Preferred Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish

  • Healthcare, case management, or health insurance knowledge preferred  

  • Experience working in an atmosphere with high client demand

    Working Conditions

    General office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time. The working environment is generally favorable. Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available.

    Physical Requirements 

    Requires sitting or standing at a desk for long periods of time indoors. Eye and hand coordination for viewing of monitor screen and multiple reports along with high volume of keyboard use. 

    Compensation

    $55,000/year
