TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION N486 Transport Funding Specialist II - Traffic Safety Division in Austin, Texas

As part of a dynamic team of professionals working together, the ideal candidate develops, implements, administers, and markets a comprehensive Traffic Safety Program in the TxDOT Austin district. They will administer state and federal transportation funded programs to local law enforcement agencies and community organizations to address traffic safety issues in their community. This position oversees contracts, grants, projects, and programs to include application, approval, reimbursements, monitoring, audits, and close-out. Work requires contact with governmental agencies and special interest groups and the public to develop, administer and manage programs to save lives by reducing traffic crashes, injuries, and deaths.This position will also maintain local community participation and involvement through coalition building to educate the public about traffic safety. Candidates will acquire and maintain Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician Certification, will continue education training necessary for recertification, and will provide CPS technician services to local communities as part of the duties of this position. This position involves participation in community outreach events such as, but not limited to, safety fairs, car seat checks, shattered dreams, and other events specific to the local community. On occasion employee will be required to pull a traffic safety trailer in the Austin district.Employees at this level must be self-starters, establish their own work plans and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Develops implements, administers, and markets a data-driven comprehensive Traffic Safety Program by establishing and maintaining community participation through coalition building in the corresponding counties in the TxDOT Austin district. Promotes community participation in highway safety initiatives and grant funding opportunities.Administers assigned projects, grants, and contracts to include analyzing, processing, negotiating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating projectandrsquo;s scope of work, budget, expenditures, objectives, related activities, and deliverables to include site visits to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.Reviews and approves project performance reports, requests for reimbursements, and invoices in accordance with grant or contract terms and conditions, applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures and within established deadlines.Makes presentations, develops speeches, conducts, and coordinates meetings, seminars, and workshops on applicable programs for various community stakeholders.Manages a Public Information and Education (PIE) program by coordinating and participating in traffic safety campaigns, to include local and statewide media events and proactively works with District and Division Public Information Offices.Serves as liaison and contact in area(s) of expertise.Keeps abreast of and ensures compliance with laws, regulations, policies and procedures, and standards pertaining to programs.Developing and giving presentations, expanding, and maintaining community participation and interest through coalition building to educate the public to save lives by reducing crashes, injuries, and deaths.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
