Position *Summary: [The Capitol Maintenance Supervisor performs routine managerial work administering the daily maintenance operations and activities at the [State Capitol, State Cemetery, Capitol Mall, and other historic buildings managed by the agency including the Governor's Mansion, Capitol Visitors Center, Sam Houston building, Robert E Johnson building and John H Reagan building. [This position reports directly to the Facilities Manager and works under moderate supervision with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. The Capitol Maintenance Supervisor oversees the Capitol Maintenance staff, including scheduling and assigning work, requisitioning materials and supplies, and ensuring equipment reliability through a strong preventive maintenance program. Responsive to all guidance provided by the Facilities Manager relative to the Capitol Complex Facilities goals and objectives. Performs hands on maintenance work, technical diagnoses and troubleshooting as required. This individual must also be able to work as part of an interdisciplinary, results-driven team. Must be able to set priorities and be flexible. Displays excellent verbal and written communications skills and maintains a professional and respectful approach when interacting with other employees, visitors, and the public. Performs all other duties as assigned.Work hours are based on the Capitol 360 day-per-year schedule and may include weekends, evenings and/or holidays, including on short notice.
