MaineGeneral Health WIC Nutrition Coordinator (Registered Dietitian) in Augusta, Maine

Job Summary:Join WIC in our mission to enhance maternal and child health through innovative nutrition programs and community outreach. We are seeking a dedicated WIC Nutrition Coordinator - Registered Dietitian to provide crucial support and education to our participants.

Job Description:

Key Responsibilities:

Clinical Assessment & Counseling:

  • Follow WIC program policies accurately for eligibility determination and nutrition assessments.

  • Oversee our WIC high-risk caseload, ensuring comprehensive nutrition assessments and personalized counseling.

  • Provide compassionate counseling to WIC participants using evidence-based methods to encourage positive health outcomes.

  • Develop nutrition education goals with participants and ensure their needs are met sensitively.

Technical Support:

  • Provide expert guidance on federal and state policies, nutrition program legislation, and regulations.

  • Interpret and disseminate current scientific information on food, nutrition, and health, focusing on maternal and child health.

  • Conduct monthly chart audits for compliance with State and Federal reviews.

  • Oversee training and education for WIC staff in nutrition and counseling.

  • Develop group education programs and create nutrition materials tailored to participant needs.

  • Represent WIC at State WIC Agency meetings and community programs.

Professional Development & Other Duties:

  • Pursue ongoing professional growth through mandatory trainings and educational requirements.

  • Attend meetings, workshops, and conferences as required.

  • Support community outreach and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: State of Maine licensed Dietitian and ADA Registered Dietitian.

  • Experience: Preferred background in nutrition education, public health, or program evaluation.

  • Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and analytical abilities. Ability to translate scientific information into practical nutrition education.
