Job Description:

The Opportunity:

We are seeking a skilled Patient Scheduler to join our Oncology team at MaineGeneral Health. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in a medical office or healthcare access center setting, specifically in scheduling and registration. The Patient Scheduler will be responsible for gathering and verifying patient information, including demographics and insurance details, to ensure seamless scheduling of appointments at our facility. The Work:

  • Schedule appointments accurately using advanced computerized scheduling programs tailored to the needs of our Oncology department

  • Collaborate with medical and clinical staff to confirm the availability of facilities and providers, while ensuring pre-authorizations are secured during scheduling

  • Communicate with patients and their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and confirm appointments

  • Accurately intake patient demographics, insurance information, and pre-authorizations for all scheduled encounters, ensuring a smooth registration process

You Have:

  • 1+ year of experience in a medical office, healthcare access center, or similar setting, with specific experience in scheduling and registering patients

  • A proven ability to manage a high volume of outgoing and incoming calls in a busy call-center or office environment

  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, including effective listening, clear communication, problem-solving abilities, and a compassionate, professional demeanor

  • Familiarity with medical terminology and proficiency in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems

  • Experience with electronic scheduling systems and a comprehensive understanding of healthcare insurance processes, particularly in an oncology setting

  • A dedication to providing exceptional patient care and attention to detail in scheduling and information management
