Description
This position is primarily located at the Mays Landing campus but requires shifts at any Atlantic Cape location. The primary shift will be the day shift. This is an “essential staff” position in accordance with college policy and the bargaining unit agreement. It requires duties to be performed in all weather or emergency conditions.
Examples of Duties
Reports to the Supervisor of Facilities Operations with direct oversight provided by the Maintenance Foreman
Maintains and operates HVAC systems and respective control systems and all utilities involving water, sewer, gas, electrical and mechanical systems
Conducts preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities
Establishes and conducts regular building maintenance inspections
Assures that overall facilities conditions are safe
Operates work control system to receive all emergency and service requests
Responds to work orders
Repairs and maintains alarm systems, doors/windows, and related hardware, boilers and associated delivery and support systems, and chemical treatment systems
Performs tasks generally assigned to or performed by crafts such as electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing, and masonry
Removes/controls snow and ice
Assists housekeeping and furniture/equipment setups/relocations when necessary
Provides basic customer service relations services
Meets, greets, and directs students and campus visitors
Performs related duties as assigned
Typical Qualifications
Education and Licenses:
High school diploma or GED
New Jersey Black Seal license or ability to attain such within 6 months of hire date
Competencies and Skills:
A strong background in electrical and HVAC is preferred
Electrical and HVAC licenses/certificates are a plus
Ability to work shift duty and 24-hour call-in service
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged period of s standing and walking
Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or kneel
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time
Supplemental Information
Terms of Employment:
Must pass an employment physical examination
Valid New Jersey driver’s license
Must have a telephone and reliable transportation
This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
