The Training Curriculum Lead is a member of the Global IT team and reports to the Sr. Manager, Training Development & Deployment.

This position is responsible for developing and implementing a blended learning strategy for global systems and process initiatives. This will require the Training Curriculum Lead to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate instructor-led and self-paced eLearning training materials.

The Training Curriculum Lead will be responsible for primary development of training materials as well as managing contract instructional designers and external vendors, depending on the scope and nature of the project(s) assigned.

The role will work with subject matter experts to conduct learning needs analysis, determine training strategy & methodology, scope required work effort, establish project plans and track project spend against budget.

The Training Curriculum Lead will support new global initiatives, explore new content delivery methods and learning strategies and create custom templates and guidelines.

Essential Functions:

  • Design and develop training materials that enable learners to achieve stated outcomes, including appropriate assessment of learner achievement. Assist staff in defining their instructional goals and assessment strategies.

  • Manage instructor-led and self-paced training development, including scoping, planning, and tracking deliverables, including day-to-day management of contract resources and monitoring spend against budget.

  • Develop standards, templates, and documentation for training deliverables.

  • Research and apply best practices and approaches for presenting and delivering training materials to adult learners. Benchmark with external sources to ensure best in class practices at Newell.

  • Maintain library of training deliverables on local network shared drive, SharePoint, and print vendor site. Maintain curriculum and course material lists.

  • Increase the efficiency of training development efforts by identifying and implementing process improvements. Consult with staff regularly to address learning and technical issues directly or through the creation of support materials as needed.

  • Manage relationship with translation vendor, providing English materials to be translated; establishing and tracking project timelines and budgets; and maintaining library of translated materials.

  • Manage relationship with print vendor, providing final versions of materials to be printed, quantities needed by location and delivery dates.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, English, Instructional Design, or related field required.

  • A minimum of 7 years’ instructional design experience developing training for business processes and/or systems (SAP preferred).

  • Expert-level experience in eLearning development using industry standard tools such as Articulate Storyline and Captivate.

  • Experience creating training courses and supporting materials in an IT organization is strongly preferred.

  • In depth understanding of adult learning and the ADDIE model.

  • File and Content management experience. Proficient with a variety of industry standard tools (SharePoint, FileZilla).

  • Track record demonstrating ability to execute initiatives in a timely manner.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and presentation skills. Complex problem-solving skills.

  • Project management skills and experience working on and delivering multiple initiatives.

  • Experience in curriculum design, content development and training best practices.

  • Working familiarity with Learning Management Systems (LMS), including the upload and management of courseware on LMS servers. SuccessFactors LMS experience strongly preferred.

  • Experience in a leadership role with direct reports preferred.

  • Graphic design experience in designing templates and visual identity packages a plus. Experience with Vyond and/or Adobe Creative Suite (PhotoShop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver) a plus.

  • Experience developing and managing HTML and rich media content, including the linking and uploading of content to web and intranet servers a plus.

  • Experience with emerging distance learning and mobile learning (M-Learning) platforms and techniques a plus.
