AIG Team Manager, UW Support in Atlanta, Georgia
About the role
Reporting to the Team Manager, Underwriting Support or Operations Manager, this position is responsible for the day-to-day management of underwriting support staff with a supervisory scope. The staff roles managed may include any combination of Underwriting Assistant, Sr. Underwriting Assistant Sr. Specialist or Associate Underwriter. This role includes coaching, counseling, goal setting and staff development. Promotes teamwork and collaboration in partnership with underwriting and other functional teams within the company.
Develops key relationships with the field and home office underwriting leaders to execute the end-to-end underwriting processes.
Manages a cross-regional team of Underwriting Analysts
Works closely with underwriters and CoE partners to develop and deliver tailored solutions.
Assumes an active role in the implementation of the Standard Commercial Underwriting Platform transformation.
Communicates and collaborates across the organization to provide solutions/recommendations to achieve organizational success.
Tracks and translates quality, timeliness, productivity, and service delivery requirements into individual, team, and unit metrics. Recommends how and what performance measurements to collect for performance data.
Review and manage production and quality control reports and take appropriate action for improved results.
Ensures compliance with workflows and procedures.
Review workflows/processes on a semi-annual basis in order to identify process efficiencies. Document workflow/process changes, train onshore/offshore staff, and implement and monitor change through BAU status.
Point of contact for Internal Audit; ensuring compliance with internal audit guidelines and assisting with developing responses and action plans in response to audit findings.
Support any IT development efforts as a subject matter expert.
Maintains open and effective communication with underwriters in order to foster partnership and teamwork.
Attends underwriting reviews/operational meetings and reports on operational process changes, regulatory changes, policy booking, policy issuance, or adjustment backlogs. Captures takeaways and works with the team to create/implement action plans as required.
Proactively maintains effectiveness when experiencing changes in work responsibilities or environment; adjusts effectively to work within the new structure, process requirements, or culture.
Keeps underwriting management informed of status and progress of support unit.
Assists with quality control of the most complex policies.
Actively manages the team in all aspects, such as hiring, performance management, development, and schedule coordination.
Collaborates with underwriting on requested individual account service agreements to ensure resources, system capabilities, and time requirements are achievable.
Manages the day-to-day operations of the support unit.
Is the first point of escalation for operations or underwriting staff regarding service issues.
Identifies servicing issues with SS and works with the Operations Manager to document the issue, present it to SS, and follow up through resolution.
Attend broker or client meetings as requested by underwriting.
Job Requirements :
7+ years of related Commercial Insurance experience.
1+ years, direct team management experience.
Strong knowledge of program and reinsurance structures.
Coursework completed towards CPCU, ARM, or other relevant commercial insurance industry designations preferred but not required.
Advanced knowledge of commercial P&C insurance policy forms and regulatory requirements.
Appropriate combination of commercial P&C insurance rating, coding, and underwriting assistant skills.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Proactive, independent work ethic with strong time management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Must demonstrate the ability to multitask and work under limited supervision.
Demonstrated excellent marketing, influencing, negotiating and communication skills in dealing with C-suite leaders.
Bachelors Degree preferred
The base salary range for this position in Jersey City, NJ is $84,000 -$100,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
