As Proposal Manager for the Enterprise Professional Services team at AWS, you lead our effort to deliver game-changing solutions to North America and Global customers. You have the exciting opportunity to create strategies to build mind-share and broad use of Amazon’s utility computing web services (Amazon EC2, Amazon S3, Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon RDS, etc). Your responsibilities include working with all members of the AWS Enterprise Professional Services team to develop winning, innovative proposals including written responses for Requests for Proposal (RFP), RFIs/RFQs/RFPs (RFx); oral presentations and demonstrations; and unsolicited documents and whitepapers.

The ideal candidate should have demonstrated enterprise customer experience in full lifecycle proposal management and technical writing, along with strong determination and motivation to drive teams towards defined deliverables (often rushed with high visibility). Successful candidate will have a background in proposal process development and leadership to support a dynamic and rapidly growing business. Candidates should have industry, contracts, and technical backgrounds enabling them to develop win themes and technical discriminators, interact with legal and technical and business leaders.

Success in this position requires the ability to think strategically about AWS’s mission products and technical challenges, along with a demonstrated skill in developing and articulating compelling value propositions in written form. Candidates should be familiar and experienced with tender compliance requirements. Candidates should be willing to support aggressive proposal timelines and commitments.

AWS Sales, Marketing, and Global Services (SMGS) is responsible for driving revenue, adoption, and growth from the largest and fastest growing small- and mid-market accounts to enterprise-level customers including public sector.

Key job responsibilities

  • Act as the primary interface for request for (RFx) response efforts, leading proposal responses on complex, strategic opportunities, and supporting partners on indirect deals.

  • Understand and navigate Enterprise customers tender procedures.

  • Execute RFx proposal response plans while collaborating with key internal stakeholders (e.g. sales, service teams, security, legal, and compliance).

  • Develop win themes and technical discriminators for Enterprise RFx opportunities.

  • Validate RFx response requirements and ensure proposal compliance.

  • Hold kick-off discussions/meetings for critical proposal efforts to discuss overall messaging, flow, and common themes, and conduct regular check-ins with authors of critical sections.

  • Lead content development and reviews with teammates.

  • Be a thought leader with respect to proposal responses, win themes, technical discriminators, and pricing.

  • Provide input to a library of approved proposal content for quick-turnaround opportunities.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience

  • Bachelor's degree, or have a minimum of 6+ years of relevant professional or military experience.

  • 5+ years of experience of structuring and negotiating complex agreements and leading cross-functional teams to successfully complete deals (preferably using the Shipley method).

  • Experience with sales CRM tools such as Salesforce or similar software.

  • Experience with business development, partnership management, or sourcing new business.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units

  • Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps

  • Certification or depth in a scalable proposal delivery methodology (Shipley).

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $74,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $159,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
