The Program Manager – Pilot Safety Reporting, Flight Safety serves as a member of the Flight Safety Reporting Team.
The Program Manager – Pilot Safety Reporting will have a principal responsibility of overseeing and administering Delta Air Lines largest safety reporting program in accordance with company and regulatory policy. The Program Manager will assist the Manager, Safety Reporting as a subject matter expert for event analysis, categorization and tracking through all facets of the safety assurance process. Additionally, the Program Manager will lead and facilitate meetings with company, union and FAA members, ensuring proper disposition and tracking of safety hazards and threats identified through the safety reporting process. As the safety reporting lead, the Program Manager will serve as principal liaison for all internal and external coordination, ensuring elite support to all program stakeholders. Furthermore, the Program Manager will also assist the Manager, Safety Reporting with preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Primary Duties/Responsibility:
Serves as a subject matter expert to the Flight Safety Reporting Specialists while providing daily oversight of all safety and fatigue report program operating procedures in accordance with company and regulatory policy.
Serves as senior coordinator for daily interaction with the Senior Investigator (ASI) in Flight Safety as well as Flight Operations and cross-divisional partners for event investigative processes, company recommendations and corrective action.
Serves as lead facilitator for the Events Review Committee and Primary meetings assisting the Manager with ensuring proper routing and tracking of safety events for company action while using established safety assurance processes.
Assists the Manager with providing monthly, quarterly and annual reports, in addition to supporting data requests, safety promotion, training and technical support.
Serves as the senior liaison for ATSAP, ASIAS, industry safety conferences, SMS meetings, as well as to the FAA, ALPA and industry partners for program inquiries.

Responsible for protecting confidential safety data whilecoordinating relevant safety information between a wide array of stakeholders.As such, this role corresponds (verbally, in-person, or written) with variousentities to include the union, government regulators, industry partners, andmultiple operating divisions within Delta. This individual may be required tospeak at large industry and company forums with aviation industry experts fromaround the world.
Will be required to assist the specialistswith administering safety reporting programs in accordance with regulatory andcompany policy. This position must be able to collaborate at all levels withinCorporate Safety Security and Compliance, Flight Operations, cross divisionalpartners, FAA and the union.
Required to developprocesses in an agile environment within a healthy and evolving safety culture.Additionally, this position will be required to partner with other cross-divisionalteams to identify systemic hazards or threats at the aggregate level with theultimate goal of implementing appropriate and effective risk controls.
Required close coordination with all operatingdivisions at Delta, and externally to industry safety programs, as well asgovernmental safety agencies. Additionally, as the Safety ReportingAdministrator, this position will advise the other Specialists on eventcategorization, risk assessment, and appropriate elevation of events to ensureproper action for disposition or escalation of events within the safetyassurance process.
Required to identify andrecommend risk mitigation strategies to those departments and agenciesaccountable for the policy, process or procedure.
Have a broad understanding of the operationaldivisions of a Part 121 major air carrier, including Flight Operations,Technical Operations, In-Flight Service, Airport Customer Service, and CargoOperations.
Understanding of the role of a Flight Safetydepartment at a Part 121 major air carrier.
A detailedunderstanding of Delta’s safety reporting culture and programs, to include theFAAs voluntary Aviation Safety Action Program.
Able to communicate clearly and effectively todiverse audiences.
Strong organizational skills and be able tothrive in a diverse and high workload environment.
Able to workeffectively with fellow employees as well as outside agencies andorganizations.
PC-based computer skills, including the use ofcommon database and Microsoft Office software and Smartsheet.
Must possess (or working towards) a Bachelor’s degree, orhigher
Must have at least 2 years of safety experience in part 121operations or military operations
Possibility of work near accident/incident investigationsite. Training is provided. Delta provides proper Personal Protective Equipment(PPE)
