Position Title: OPEX Transportation Manager

Department: Transportation

OPEX Transportation Manager will oversee and optimize transportation operations within our organization. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional analytical skills, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of logistics and transportation management. As the OPEX Transportation Manager, you will be responsible for implementing cost-effective transportation strategies, streamlining processes, and ensuring the efficient movement of goods from point of origin to final destination. Your role will be crucial in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction while optimizing resources and minimizing expenses.

Position Detail – Responsibilities

· Develop and implement transportation strategies to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.

· Analyze transportation data, including routes, carrier performance, and fuel consumption, to identify areas for improvement.

· Collaborate with internal teams, including procurement, warehousing, and customer service, to coordinate transportation activities and ensure seamless operations.

· Support the negotiation of contracts with transportation providers, including carriers, freight forwarders, and brokers, to secure competitive rates and service agreements.

· Monitor transportation KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and develop reports to track performance against goals and identify areas for improvement.

· Support the implementation of technology solutions, such as transportation management systems (TMS) and route optimization software, to enhance efficiency and visibility in transportation operations.

· Ensure compliance with transportation regulations and safety standards, including DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and HOS (Hours of Service) requirements.

· Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including carriers, suppliers, and customers, to drive collaboration and support business objectives.

· Lead continuous improvement initiatives to streamline processes, reduce waste, and enhance the overall efficiency of transportation operations.

· Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in transportation and logistics to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

· Drive consistent YOY productivity savings.

· Provide analytical support, technical information, and recommendations to all corporate departments as they relate to managing domestic freight requirements.

· Assist Corporate Transportation to develop service provider RFP’s resulting in provider selection, analysis, & association implementations.

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • 5-10 years of experience with all modes of transportation (Ocean, Air, TL, LTL, etc.)

  • Proven experience in transportation management, with a minimum of 5-10 years in a leadership role.

  • In-depth knowledge of transportation regulations, compliance standards, and industry best practices.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external partners.

  • Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS) and other relevant technology solutions.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.

  • SAP Experience

  • MS Software - Proficient in Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint

  • Experience with Supply Chain Concepts & Theory
