Position Purpose:

The Business Intelligence Engineer is responsible for analyzing large data sets to expose meaningful insights that drive business decisions for the Online Team. This role will design, develop and implement metrics, reports and dashboards to assist leaders in making data-driven decisions to meet business objectives. In response to the strategy of the BI team and Online leaders, this role maintains the data warehouse and provides adhoc reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • 50% Design and develop robust, user friendly applications, reports and dashboards using BI tools like Microstrategy and SAS

  • 25% Partner with leaders to identify needs and gather requirements. Provide solutions by building tools, reports and predictive models. Automate reporting as needed

  • 25% Research and document best practices and standards for using our BI tools. Provide insight on industry trends

Direct Manager/Direct Reports:

  • Position reports to Sr Manager or Manager, Online Business Intelligence.

  • Position has no direct reports.

Travel Requirements:

  • Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is frequent opportunity to move about. On rare occasions there may be a need to move or lift light articles.

Working Conditions:

  • Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be eighteen years of age or older.

  • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 year's experience in a BI role, including data modeling and analysis of large unstructured data sets

  • Prior experience gathering business requirements and building reports in a large scale complex organization

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Finance, Statistics or other related field

  • Core programming skills in languages: Java, C#, C+ Experience with core database technologies: SQL, indexing, sharding, federation, ETL tools

  • Experience with MS-SQL Server, MS-SSAS, MS-SSIS, Microstrategy, OBI

  • Experience with Hadoop or NoSQL database such as HBase, MongoDB.

  • The knowledge, skills and abilities typically acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
