Job Summary:

Assists with the installation, setup, programming, operation, inspection, and adjustment of various types of conventional or automatic machines used to produce precision parts and instruments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ability to follow all safety and standard work requirements.

  • Fabricates and modifies parts to make or repair machine tools or maintain industrial machines, applying knowledge of mechanics, shop mathematics, metal properties, layout, and machining procedures.

  • Creates machining processes

  • Understands most machining applications.

  • Creates and or modifies programs

  • Completes parts from start to finish with little to no direction

  • Ability to modify existing parts / tools to meet immediate demand

  • Machines parts to specifications using machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, or grinders.

  • Measures, examines, and tests completed units in order to detect defects and ensure conformance to specifications.

  • Ability to assist in creation and improvement of standard work processes

Qualifications:

  • Performs work under little supervision.

  • Handles basic issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff.

  • Possesses beginning to completion working knowledge of subject matter.

  • Mathematical skills.

  • Advanced technical expertise.

  • Manual dexterity.

  • Physical Stamina. Ability to stand for long periods of time.

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum High School Diploma or GED

Years of Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years experience.

  • Machinist III requires ability to efficiently setup / operate multiple types of equipment. Can create a part from start to finish.
