Job Summary and Qualifications

The Case Management VP leads the execution of the HCA case management program across the division with approximately 75% of their time allocated to the main hospital. The rest of their time is divided into overseeing the regional/market hospitals and providing CM leadership support to the division. Direct reports include the main hospital director and the regional manager. The Hospital VP is a subject matter expert in all aspects of case management, providing direct onsite support and driving change management. The Hospital VP ensures that the facilities are following HCA standards, policies, and regulatory requirements. The Hospital VP must possess excellent communication skills, proven motivational capabilities. Must have an executive presence and a demonstrated record of accomplishment for delivering results and attaining goals.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Provides direct leadership, oversight, and accountability for the operational effectiveness of Case Management Services at the hospital and division level.

  • Develop, create, and implement robust strategies and operational efficiencies designed to improve patient LOS, patient authorizations, and improved clinical documentation.

  • Works collaboratively with case management leadership (corporate, division, and hospital), and other division and hospital leaders (CFO, CMO, CNO, Quality, Performance Improvement, Ethics, Legal) as a resource and advisor, proactively analyzing data, aligning goals to improve operational, clinical, quality, and patient satisfaction outcomes

  • Leads Case Management oversight function responsible for finance, education, training, technology, and daily operations

  • Provides leadership to and actively participates with facility leaders and staff to identify, implement, or enhance Case Management programs consistent with HCA and hospital strategy

  • Disseminates information accurately and timely with multiple audiences; leads regularly scheduled communication sessions with hospital CM leadership and regional manager

  • Facilitates Case Management education within the division; assist with orientation and on-going education of Case Management staff, provides education as needed

  • Identifies and proposes opportunities to improve current technology or identify new technology to enhance performance and productivity.

  • Escalates issues to division and corporate leadership.

  • Attracts, develops, and retains talent across the division to ensure succession plan.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Practices and adheres to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”

  • May require up to 25% travel

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Social Work or Business Administration preferred

  • 5+ years’ experience in Case Management Leadership, preferably within a large multi-hospital system

  • 7+ years overall Clinical Case Management experience required

Licenses, Certifications, & Training:

  • Registered Nurse - Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation or Licensed Clinical Social Worker preferred

  • Certification in Case Management preferred
