Summary The Women Veteran's Program Manager (WVPM) is responsible for the administrative and clinical aspects of a major specialty treatment program: the Women Veterans Health Program (WVHP) for the Western North Carolina VA Health Care System. WVPM administers information and analytical systems to evaluate and enhance the quality of services provided to Women Veterans.. The WVPM develops processes for orienting female patients to WNCVAHCS health care services and Veterans' benefits; identifies, collects and monitors reliable, current data on the care of Women Veterans to include workload statistics; monitors and ensures patient satisfaction among Women Veterans in all aspects of their health care. Develops and monitors gender, race and other specific quality indicators regarding health care delivery to, and disparities relevant to, Women Veterans; provides consultation and technical assistance to WNCVAHCS staff regarding Women Veterans' issues and serves as an advocate for Women Veterans and the WVHP staff who care for them. The WVPM coordinates the provision of comprehensive health care services to Women Veterans; plans for establishment of new specialty and primary programs and the expansion of existing programs as needed to meet the needs of Women Veterans currently seeking or receiving care within the WNCVAHCS and initiates efforts to educate Women Veterans in the community about our services and offer the opportunity for enrollment. Ensures equity of access, service and benefits to Women Veterans. Coordinates the provision of state-of-the-art preventive, diagnostic, treatment, consultation and referral services for Women Veterans within a comprehensive, healthcare facility. coordinates medical and/or surgical health care services and provision of mental health care, assesses the improved quality of clinical care; collects, develops, and analyzes data derived from these programs to assist in planning for Women Veterans services, and utilizes appropriate clinical indicators and monitoring activities to ensure the care provided is of the highest quality. The WVPM provides outreach to Women Veterans, transitioning active-duty personnel, and community service providers; collaborates with other agencies within and outside VA to evaluate and monitor implementation and completion of plans; collaborates with community agencies including Veteran Service Organizations to develop and implement programs and activities for Women Veterans; designs and manages promotional events and outreach activities through public speaking, health fairs, recognition ceremonies, Stand Downs, Town Halls, educational seminars, and focus groups where Women Veterans can provide input and feedback to program staff and facility management. The WVPM utilizes various available databases and software programs to monitor utilization rates and other related data; coordinates input from providers and works closely with various WNCVAHCS committees to ensure appropriate supplies and equipment are available; and utilizes specialized expertise, systems theory, and effective communication skills to promote a productive work environment and enhance interdisciplinary collaboration across internal and external programs. The WVPM supports Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) principles and regularly collaborates with Women's Health staff including, but not limited to, the Gynecologist, Women's Health Medical Director, Women's Health Coordinator, Mammography Coordinator, Maternity Care Coordinator and Dysplasia/ Pap Coordinator while also serving as Chair of the multidisciplinary Women Veterans Health Committee, meeting regularly to manage the care of Women Veterans and to identify and address areas of special concern for Women Veterans currently receiving care at the WNCVAHCS and the increasing number of those expected to do. Have a master's degree in social work from a school of social work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). Graduates of schools of social work that are in candidacy status do not meet this requirement until the School of Social Work is fully accredited. A doctoral degree in social work may not be substituted for the master's degree in social work. Persons hired or reassigned to social worker positions in the GS-0185 series in VHA must be licensed or certified by a state to independently practice social work at the master's degree level. Candidates must be proficient in spoken and written English to be appointed as authorized by 38 U.S.C. § 7403(f). There may be frequent reaching and walking. As this is a sedentary position, it may require sitting for long periods.
