Position Summary

The Plant Accountant is an integral part of our U.S. Production Operations Management team. This role primarily supports the Plant Controller(s) with month-end closing, ad-hoc financial analyses, inventory control and SOX/Internal Control compliance. The primary customers that this role supports are the Plant Management team(s) and the GPS FP&A team as well as other functions such as Corp. Accounting, Tax, etc.

Responsibilities

• Support internal partners, other departments, management, and external parties with data and analysis requests.

• Provided detailed analysis of plant manufacturing variances.

• Prepare monthly closing journal entries and take ownership of analyzing/investigating results and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Prepare detailed account analysis reports for the Plant Balance Sheet.

• Monitor cost systems and inventory movements for financial reporting.

• Respond timely to both internal and external audit requests.

• Prepare required quarterly and year end reports.

• Develop a timeline, including required resources, needed to execute the corporate budget requirements in support of developing standard product costs.

• Execute the timeline by developing departmental and location budgets and holding resources accountable to requirements.

• Drive and support continuous improvement by challenging the status quo, supporting management initiatives and developing & documenting processes.

• Assist with other locations as needed and assist with ad hoc projects.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor’s Degree (4 year undergraduate) in Accounting/Finance or Equivalent experience

• 3-4 years of Accounting Experience

• Proficient in understanding of US GAAP; comfortable in review and analysis of plant financial statements

• Strong user of Microsoft Excel

• Ability to meet deadlines, attention to detail, self-starter, independent thinker, quick learner, excellent/pro-active communicator, and good team player

• Advanced degree (e.g. MBA) and/or advanced certification (e.g. CMA/CPA)

• Prior consumer packaged goods experience

• Understanding/Prior usage of SAP

• Knowledge in building product costs a plus
