Erickson Living Fitness Specialist - Part Time in Ashburn, Virginia

Ashby Ponds is a beautiful 132-acre continuing care retirement community in Loudoun County, Virginia. We’re part of a growing network of communities developed and managed by Erickson Senior Living, a national provider of senior living and health care with campuses in 11 states—and growing.

We are hiring a Fitness Specialist to join our team. The Fitness Specialist will assess, monitor, and develop individual fitness programs for residents.

This is a part time position, 20 hours/week, 5 hour shifts. No weekends!

How you will make an impact:

  • Performing fitness assessments which include vital signs.

  • Prescribing an appropriate exercise program, including flexibility, strength, and cardiovascular training.

  • Educating and evaluating members on proper exercise techniques.

  • Assisting with coordination and implementation of Wellness programs.

  • Maintaining a clean and safe fitness area for members.

  • Building strong relationships with residents and staff, encouraging them to be physically active.

  • Compensation: ranges from $16.98/hour - $25.47/hour, commensurate of experience.

What you will need:

  • Associate's Degree in Health Education/Physical Education or related field; Bachelor's Degree in Health Related/Physical Education field with emphasis on Exercise Physiology preferred.

  • Minimum of one (1) year related work experience is required.

  • Experience may be substituted if Bachelor's degree is in a related field.

  • Certification through a national organization (ex: ACSM, ACE, SFA, AFAA) is preferred.

  • Knowledge of seniors a plus.

  • Knowledge of exercise prescription, medications, contraindications, and risk factors is essential.

  • Experience in designing, implementing, and evaluating group fitness classes a plus. Experience in Yoga is preferred.

  • Personal Training Experience preferred
