Nuclear Fuel Services Quality Technical Specialist in Arnprior, Ontario

We are currently seeking a Quality Technical Specialist for our location in Arnprior, Ontario. The Quality Technical Specialist will support the Fuel Manufacturing Group by providing expertise in Quality Assurance. In this role you will utilize your experience and expertise to solve problems, support continuous improvement and maintain the quality management system.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensure that quality system is maintained in accordance with standards such as ISO 9001, CAN/CSA N299.2, and NQA-1.

  • Perform responsibilities documented in the QA Program Policies & Procedures both at the Tubing Operations level and Business Management System level.

  • Develop and maintain general knowledge of existing and proposed regulations. Provide technical guidance to employees and management.

  • Define employee training needs and select training tools. Develop, deliver, or coordinate training and/or participate in the selection of qualified individuals to deliver training and verify delivery of training as per the training program.

  • Support in all aspects relating to the quality management system, including but not limited to, vendor management, non-conformance and corrective action management, quality certifications, document control, and control of measuring and test equipment.

  • Participate in Material Review Boards and investigations addressing control of non-conforming product.

  • Support the Management of Change program for the Fuel Assembly by reviewing Change Control Notices and ensuring QA compliance to related actions are completed as per program requirements.

  • Conduct internal audits and self-assessments for the site.

  • Assist with business proposals by collecting relevant QA information.

  • Interface effectively with all levels within the company as well as organizations outside of the business (i.e. Regulators).

  • Assist with the maintenance of QA program software.

  • Promote various safety initiatives and demonstrate a “safety first” mindset.

    • Provide QA Orientation training for all new hires and ensure the QA Orientation program is kept up to date.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or minimum 5 years direct QA experience. Post secondary education in engineering preferred.

  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player with excellent written and verbal Communication skills.

  • Knowledge of applicable ISO 9001, CSA N299 or NQA-1 standards is preferred.

  • Proven analytical ability to judge the adequacy of quality assurance, safety and adherence to requirements and to participate in the resolution of problems.

  • Strong decision-making skills.

  • Hands-on problem solver.

  • Organized and detail orientated

  • Proficient with MS Office software.

  • Prior experience working in a unionized environment is preferred.

    The base salary range for this position in Ontario at the start of employment is expected to be between $82,000.00 and $126,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
