Amazon is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join the Global Real Estate and Facilities group (GREF) as the Sr. Program Manager of Workplace Design Guidelines. This job contributes to Amazon’s success by leading the transformation and ongoing maintenance of the Workplace Design Guidelines and Standards to a best-in-class, fully integrated, accessible, easily navigable tool in support of the design and delivery of corporate space. As a GREF Leader, you will be responsible for leading the team who develops and maintains the guidelines and standards required to design new, and renovation of, corporate offices, including (but not limited to) furniture, fixtures and equipment (FF&E), IT/AV/VC, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP), Lighting, Horticulture, Amenities (e.g., Food & Beverage), and Sustainability. This role is also responsible for leading the holistic development and documentation of the Global Signage program, including wayfinding methodology. This role is also responsible for developing and maintaining mechanisms to simplify and streamline existing processes, including compliance validation and design iteration classification and tracking. The successful candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate and process stakeholder feedback from lessons learned, design change requests, and data output from compliance processes, design reviews and requests for information. This is a highly collaborative role who will work closely with cross-functional partners including (but not limited to) Concept Design, Design & Construction Delivery, IT Services, Sustainability and Facilities Management across the global regions.

We are looking for someone that models and acts in accordance with Amazon’s Leadership Principles. The role will be based in Seattle, WA and regular travel is not expected.

Key job responsibilities

  • Lead the team responsible for developing and delivering Workplace Design Guidelines and Signage Program

  • Ability work closely with cross-functional teams to coordinate and process stakeholder feedback from lessons learned, design change requests, and data output from compliance processes, design reviews and requests for information

  • Ability to operate on both strategic and tactical levels

  • Develop and publish the Workplace Design Guidelines and Standards, including but not limited to, basis of design narratives, room and material specifications, architectural guidelines, change notifications

  • Develop and maintain tools, approval workflows, and systems supporting the design specification database

  • Integrate constraints and requirements from cross-functional stakeholders into efficient, scalable documentation that is accessible, customer-friendly, and secure

  • Coordinate and collaborate with a wide variety of cross-functional partners to develop standards and guidelines to support new design solutions

  • Support a multi-disciplinary team that is creating innovative corporate office solutions that reduce carbon emissions and improve the sustainability of our portfolio

  • Act as a design Subject Matter Expert, consulting with Concept Designers and Design & Construction delivery teams

  • Manage vendor scope and contracts for architectural consulting related to guidelines and standards development

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA or advanced degree in Architecture, Engineering or Interior Design.

  • Minimum 15 years of experience in the design development of complex commercial construction projects.

  • Experiencing leading and managing teams, including ongoing performance assessment/reviews and supporting professional development

  • General knowledge of Building Code.

  • Proficient in MS Word and MS Excel.

  • Experience in the selection and management of design teams at all tiers; architects, engineers and specialty consultants

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $144,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $238,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
