Amazon Finance Manager, US Consumables, Grocery in Arlington, Virginia

US Consumables Finance team support the core Consumables category business (Health and Personal Care, Grocery, Beauty, Premium Beauty, Baby, and Pets) and a various of fast-growing and highly impactful programs (e.g., Everyday Essentials, Subscribe and Save, Amazon Access, Climate Pledge Friendly etc). We are looking for an analytical, self-driven, and innovative leader who is able to distill complex problems into solutions that drive business insights and finance process improvement.

The role is an opportunity to lead key workstreams and controllership processes for the Grocery Category General Ledger and get really involved with shaping our business. You will partner closely with cross-functional teams to perform analysis, create metrics, and develop forecasts/insights that drive strategic business decisions for senior stakeholders. While this role is within US Consumables Finance, several of our mechanisms and workstreams extend beyond US Consumables resulting in high impact, complex and visible projects.

The successful candidate in this role will have passion for innovation, be a self-starter, possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail and an ability to work in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment. This role also has regular interaction with various business units across Amazon and requires exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Key job responsibilities

• P&L ownership – analysis of the financial outputs, connecting them with the underlying input drivers and translating them into insights

• Drive core financial processes for the Everyday Essentials business including Annual Operating Plan, long range Strategic Plan and Weekly/Monthly/Quarterly Business Reviews

• Work with business leaders and cross-functional teams to present business results and statistical analysis and recommendations to senior management for decision making.

• Perform financial reporting, ad-hoc data analysis, and financial modeling using a broad range of tools including Excel, SQL, and COGNOS

• Conduct financial analysis and strategic planning in support of business groups. Use solid financial knowledge and business acumen to build financial models, interpret data, draw conclusions, and make recommendations that deliver results, drive improvements, and influence leaders throughout Amazon. These decisions can have global impact.

• Design scalable solutions that automate reporting of key performance metrics and analysis to achieve business goals.

• Create effective business partnerships, manages competing priorities, and provides guidance based on data analysis during unexpected events.

• Use active listening skills intuitively to communicate data (both written and verbal) in a clear, concise, and unambiguous manner. Adjusts style for various audiences to articulate complex finance issues clearly.

A day in the life

You’ll collaborate with business, technical and finance stakeholders both within and outside US Consumables. You will be managing periodic reporting and planning, deep diving into data and dissecting ambiguous problems. You’ll also help and collaborate with other global Consumables Finance teams to gain access to vital insights and drive scalable solutions.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of tax, finance or a related analytical field experience

  • BA or BS in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science) and 5+ years of finance experience, or Master’s degree and 3+ years of finance experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience identifying incomplete or inaccurate data, identifying the root cause and creating/implementing an escalation plan experience

  • Experience solving complex business challenges by delivering accurate and timely financial models, analysis, and recommendations that have a proven impact on business (e.g., financial savings, operational improvements, or customer benefits) experience

  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (examples: SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and other financial systems (examples: Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards)

  • Experience delivering forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis, and data interpretation of results

  • Applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses experience

  • Building financial and operational reports/data sets that inform business decision-making experience

  • Creating process improvements with automation and analysis experience

  • Participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results experience

  • Building and managing financial models for business forecasting and problem solving

  • MBA and/or CPA

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $85,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $179,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
