Kadiak, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Medical Support Services Nurse Practitioner (PRN) to support Kadiak and our government customer in Anniston, AL. This is a Part time, as needed position. This position requires the candidate to be able to obtain a Public Trust.

In support of operations at the Center for Domestic Preparedness (CDP), the Medical Support Services Nurse Practitioner (MSS NP) works with federal and contract staff to ensure students and staff meet medical requirements for training and evaluates or supports individuals requiring medical evaluation due to illness or injury.

Essential Functions, Responsibilities & Duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide direct nursing care as specified by Koniag Government Services (KGS) for the CDP Occupational Medical Clinic in Anniston, AL. to include basic occupational health care, individualized and/or group health education, personalized health counseling, and appropriate medical and wellness referrals for clients presenting in the occupational health center or outreach event for occupational health services.

  • Promote the mission, vision and values of the organization

  • Perform medical screening and interpretation of testing/screening results for all staff requiring the use of personal protective equipment based on the CDP’s Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), Respiratory Protection (RP) Program, or for those in Medical Support Services requiring initial or surveillance assessments as part of duties.

  • Review Respiratory Medical Questionnaire (RMQ) to identify any medical conditions that may place a student at increased risk related to the use respiratory protection and provide a determination of the student’s ability to train in personal protective equipment ensemble during hands-on practical exercises at the CDP.

  • Conduct follow-up interviews, for students and staff, to clarify any negative findings from the medical questionnaire or physical examination.

  • Perform medical surveillance of employees exposed or potentially exposed to occupational hazards.

  • Maintain documentation per 29 CFR 1910.120(f)(7) and 1910.134(e) regarding the individual’s ability to use a respirator and wear the required PPE ensemble.

  • Recommend, for staff, additional specialty tests as deemed necessary per 29 CFR 1910.120 or1910.137.

  • Provide a written opinion, within 24 hours, that documents detected or reported medical conditions which places the staff member at risk while performing assigned work.

  • Evaluation of students or staff who doff early, have potential breach of PPE, or urgent conditions that require evaluation during training at Chemical, Ordinance, Biological, Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF)

  • Medically clear students for participation in chemical and biological agent training at the Chemical and Biological Medical issues at Chemical, Ordinance, Biological, Radiological Training Facility (COBRATF).

  • Evaluates individuals and provides appropriate medical treatment for illness or injury resulting from exposure to chemical or biological agent at the COBRATF.

  • Consults with the Occupational Health Physician on all issues dealing with the COBRATF.

  • Maintain individual medical records compliant with Alabama State Board of Medical Examiners

  • Perform administrative duties, phone calls, and data filing.

  • Provides immunizations according to Koniag policies, SOPs, and Standing Order

Minimum Education Requirements,Certification,Licensure,Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited School of Nursing

  • Active, Unrestricted RN licensure, State of Alabama

  • Active, Unrestricted Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner, State of Alabama.

  • Collaborative Practice Registration with the Contract Physician

  • BLS/AED certification.

  • Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC) Certification a plus

  • NIOSH spirometry/training certification a plus

  • At least two (2) years’ experience in occupational health or related experience such as public health/community health, outpatient clinic, emergency department or ambulatory healthcare, or physician office nursing.

  • US Citizenship required

  • Ability to successfully pass US government background investigation and obtain a Public Trust

  • Current Public Trust or higher clearance a plus

Working Environment & Conditions

This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand, walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The workload may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, do simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress.

The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
