Responsibilities*

40% Supporting clerical duties for the Vocal Health Team.

Coordinating and scheduling radiology testing for patients.

Specialty scheduling for vocal health specialist.

Scrubbing provider schedules ensuring patients are schedule correctly.

Collaborating with nursing and providers for template changes to schedules.

30% Surgery Scheduling duties include:

Scheduling surgeries using MiChart Depot application per directive from Nursing and Providers.

Scheduling pre-op, post-op, along with follow up appointments.

Coordinating scheduling for referrals or other directives given per the Provider.

30% Other Duties:

Inbasket support.

Front Desk support as needed.

Attending clinic and team meetings.

Serving as a backup Surgery Scheduler covering planned and unplanned absences.

Supporting other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • 3-4 Years of experience

  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology

  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting

  • Communicates effectively

  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills

  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced, multi-disciplinary clinical setting.

  • Demonstrated excellent attendance

Desired Qualifications*

  • Experience working within a large complex healthcare setting

  • Familiarity with UMHS electronic medical record systems

  • Knowledge of UMHS policies and procedures

Union Affiliation

This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

Background Screening
