Purpose:

As the Learning Support Assistant Manager at Kresge you will be the primary assistant for the unit manager, developing decision-making responsibilities to ensure that the operations of the unit can continue to move forward during absences. You will help coordinate the daily operations and oversee and train support staff. You will ensure operations are providing quality customer service and that deadlines are met. You will answer inquiries and resolve complaints and problems that are sensitive in nature. You will provide instructional/technical support for all aspects of services. You will also serve as the supervisor for the course materials distribution service. You will report directly to the Access and Curriculum Services Manager.

Responsibilities*

Learning Support Services Admin 35%

  • Assist manager with daily operations.

  • Provide complex technical problem-solving support services for course materials with faculty, staff and students to support Ross courses.

  • Provide specialized instructions about course materials to faculty and staff.

  • Provide delivery of user instruction or support for the development of instructional services that pertain to course materials.

  • Prepare and maintain statistical reports.

  • Prepare and maintain training resources for all aspects of day-to-day operations.

Course Materials Production 30%

  • Maintain specialized reference and collection details of each set of course materials by recording bibliographic details and ensuring digital integration with Canvas is complete and troubleshooting.

  • Coordinate special orders and ensure delivery of material meets deadlines.

  • Prepare training resources for temporary and regular staff on all aspects of services.

  • Improve and streamline processes.

  • Record accurate records and notes and share details or issues right away or at bi-weekly meetings with the team.

Course Materials Distribution Desk Services 20%

  • Be a primary supervisor for distribution service staff.

  • Delegate work assignments and train support staff.

  • Ensure deadlines are met and report progress to the manager.

  • Additionally, prepare and maintain training resources for temporary and regular staff on all aspects of services.

  • Hire, create work schedules and keep staff alert to changes.

  • Resolve disciplinary issues and ensure that State and Federal regulations and university and department policies and procedures are followed.

Financial 15%

  • Assist manager with financial operations for the course materials service.

  • Determine, obtain and monitor copyright and vendor orders, submit invoices for payment or purchase with PCard and maintain vendor relations.

  • Order special instructional material and ensure payments are accurate and paid promptly.

  • Determine individual course material prices and submit class fee requests to the UM Registrar's Office.

  • Verify enrollment data if a student drops a course or for final usage and billing reports.

Required Qualifications*

  • 4+ of relative work experience working with the public in a library setting.

  • 2+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity.

  • Some knowledge of current copyright issues, specifically know copyright law and determine if the material is fair use or requires copyright permission.

  • Experience using business information resources.

Additional Information

The general posting range for this position is $52,000 - $58,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process. Selected candidates whose start date is after April 1st will be eligible for the annual salary program in September 2025, if offered.
