Purpose:

The Associate Director, Executive MBA Career Advancement Coach will provide personalized career guidance and support to Executive MBA (EMBA) students. You will help them navigate their professional journey and achieve their career goals. You will collaborate with students to assess their skills, interests, and aspirations, and develop customized strategies to enhance their career prospects. You will understand the importance of working with adult learners and mid-career leaders from diverse functional and industry backgrounds. You will report to the EMBA Director.

Responsibilities*

70% Individual Coaching

  • Provide one-on-one career coaching sessions to Executive MBA students (Senior Managers, Directors, Vice Presidents, C-Suite roles), to help students navigate career transitions, including advancing to more senior executive roles, changing functions and industries, and/or starting their own ventures.

  • Provide one-on-one career coaching to Executive MBA Alumni (Vice Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, C-Suite) to help alumni advance their careers, manage retained recruiters, change industries and/or start their own ventures.

  • Assist students in developing comprehensive job search strategies, including identifying job opportunities, researching companies, and using job search tools and resources.

  • Advise students on high-level networking techniques, including building and using high-level professional networks, using alumni networks, building and leveraging high-level professional networks with influential industry leaders and potential mentors, and attending industry events.

  • Offer constructive feedback on resumes, cover letters, and other application materials, ensuring they are tailored to the students' target industries and positions.

  • Conduct mock interviews to help students refine their interviewing skills, provide feedback on their performance, and enhance their confidence in communicating their professional experiences and achievements.

  • Foster long-term relationships with EMBA students, understanding their unique career challenges and aspirations to provide ongoing support once they become alumni.

30% Program Development & Delivery

  • Serve on the Admissions Committee interviewing 90% of prospective students and documenting admissions recommendations. Differentiate the Ross EMBA by communicating the value of Career Coaching.

  • Deliver workshops on different topics such as personal branding, career exploration, interviewing and negotiation skills, and career transition strategies to equip students with essential skills for career advancement.

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to provide EMBA referrals for feature articles and the annual Poets & Quants expose.

  • Collaborate with EMBA alumni, alumni relations, to expand student networking opportunities, organize networking events, and facilitate connections between students and recruiters as well as employers.

  • Stay updated on industry trends, job market dynamics, and emerging career opportunities relevant to Executive MBA students, and share relevant insights and resources with them.

Required Qualifications*

  • Master of Business Administration degree and 5+ years overall work experience in a related field or an equivalent combination of work experience and education.

  • Familiarity with a diverse range of industries and job responsibilities.

  • Experience assessing students' career needs, analyzing market trends, and developing strategic solutions.

  • Experience building and maintaining professional networks and facilitating meaningful connections for students.

  • Proficient in career development platforms, and online networking tools.

Additional Information

The general posting range for this position is $83,000 - $101,000. You can expect to be paid a great compensation package. Factors used to determine salary include experience, knowledge and skills for the position. You are encouraged to discuss salary questions to honor agreement and transparency throughout the recruiting process. Selected candidates whose start date is after April 1st will be eligible for the annual salary program in September 2025, if offered.
