Summary About the Position: This position is in the Defense Civilian Intelligence Personnel System (DCIPS). Employees occupying DCIPS positions are in the Excepted Service and must adhere to U.S. Code, Title 10, as well as Department of Defense Instruction 1400.25. This position is located at the U.S. Special Operations Command (Army), Strategic Systems Support Element, in Alexandria, Virginia. Responsibilities Serves as Security Generalist in the Command Security Division. Coordinates staff and subordinate offices in the performance of security policies and concepts. Applies extensive knowledge of security disciplines to advise and assist in the development of security plans, contracts. Reviews trends to determine vulnerabilities. and develops, recommends, and implements countermeasures Evaluates recommendations and incorporates into policies and procedures as appropriate. In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Communications Security Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Security To qualify based on your experience, your resume must describe at least one (1) year of experience equivalent to at least the GG/GS-11 grade level in the Federal service which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as: Working with security programs in three (3) or more of the following: 1.) Special Access Programs (SAP), Personnel Security (PERSEC), Information Security (INFOSEC), Physical Security (PHYSEC), Special Compartmented Information (SCI), and Industrial Security (INDUSTSEC); 2.), Providing administrative oversight of SCI & SAP facilities and internal systems for accreditations; AND/OR 3.), Applying regulations and policies to support multi-discipline Security programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level in the federal service (GG/GS-11). Specialized experience is progressively responsible intelligence-related security work directly related to the position being filled. Creditable experience may include previous military experience, experience gained in the private sector or in another government agency as long as it was at a level at least equivalent to the next lower band in the series. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. All INSCOM employees may be subject to extended TDY or worldwide deployments during crisis situations to perform mission essential functions as determined by management. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI security clearance. This position requires you to submit a Public Financial Disclosure Report (OGE 278) or a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report (OGE450) upon entry, and annually thereafter.
