The Shin lab in the Department of Neuroscience and Experimental Therapeutics at Albany Medical College, Albany NY, is accepting applications for an open laboratory research technician position. The successful candidate will join an enthusiastic and productive team aimed at investigating a novel brain area for deep brain stimulation for epilepsy. The project will employ a rat model of spontaneous seizures with chronic video-electroencephalograms (EEGs), electrocardiogram and respiratory telemetry, in vivo electrophysiology and immunocytochemistry of post-mortem tissue.

The Candidate

Interested applicants should have at least a BS in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Physiology or other related discipline(s). The person should also be highly motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a team. Surgical expertise (e.g., stereotaxic implants of recording/stimulating electrodes), behavior testing expertise and/or a background in epilepsy, seizures and electrophysiology is not required but would be beneficial.
