The Activity Companion has the primary responsibility to assist the Registered Professional Nurse in consistently monitoring patients with a potential for self-inflicted or accidental injury, or with eating disorders to maintain safety. Remains within close proximity of the patient at risk for self-harm, and is trained to provide support through assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs), provision of diversional activities, and maintenance of a clean and safe environment for healing. The Activity Companion will accompany the patient

during transport and procedures.

  • Demonstrate stewardship by thoughtful and responsible use of resources including maintaining a clean and hospitable environment, starting work on time, displaying a consciousness regarding costs, supplies and department finances.

  • Demonstrate respect for individual differences of each person by acknowledging the essence of each person, appreciating, and responding to unique, spiritual, personal, and cultural backgrounds of patients, families, and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. - required

  • Healthcare - preferred

  • BCLS - Basic Life Support - required

  • Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED - required
