Savannah River Mission Completion Operations / Maintenance Support Specialist (Transitioning Military program) in Aiken, South Carolina
Overview
Savannah River Mission Completion, LLC (SRMC) is seeking Operations/Maintenance Support Specialists to be based in our Aiken, SC location on the Savannah River Site. Transitioning military personnel are encouraged to apply; skills will be aligned from Department of Defense operations to Department of Energy nuclear facility operations.
These positions provide general direction, guidance, analysis, coordination and/or support to operations, maintenance, and support organizations. These functions will be in direct or indirect support of a specific facility (or facilities), location or functional area. Administers and/or oversees operational programs.
Assignments may include Work Planner, Lockout Writer, Maintenance Specialist or related facility-based operations and maintenance positions.

Responsibilities
This Support Specialist may be assigned to, and responsible for:
Using considerable subject matter knowledge, provides feedback, recommendations, administration, coordination, and/or professional support on a variety of activities such as; audits, drills, assessments, process improvement, surveillances, inspections, walk downs, outages, compliance, predictive/preventive maintenance, cost/budget, communications, planning, scheduling, training, systems, performance metrics and other facility/area/programmatic initiatives and assignments
Reviews technical and non-technical work documents for compliance, accuracy, appropriateness, completeness, and safety including, but not limited to, procedures, work packages, lockout/tagout plans, work products, checklists, white papers, presentations, and program documents in support of operations, maintenance, and project work evolutions associated with operation of an area or facility
Implements small/moderately sized programs and improvement initiatives
Performs walk downs, inspections, observations, and/or evaluations to ensure safe and efficient operation. Problem-solves as issues arise
Develops and issues preventive maintenance records and work packages in response to a periodic and predetermined maintenance schedule.
Evaluates scope of work to ensure appropriate post-maintenance testing requirements are incorporated into the work package.
Develops and writes lockouts/tagouts for corrective, preventive, and modification work packages.
Performs analysis on equipment and components providing meaningful conclusions
Utilizes and administers information systems and business applications including activities such as general maintenance, upgrades, data integrity, analysis, and report/query development. Trains others on use of systems
Performs inquiries, fact and information gathering pertaining to abnormal facility events or other occurrences in support of issue investigations which includes participation/facilitation of Fact Finding and Issue Investigation meetings. Documents and incorporates responses, recommendations, and situational and root cause factors.
Coordinates and plans cross functional activities between construction, operations, work control, maintenance, projects and other relevant areas
Coordinates materials/waste handling, storage and disposition
Provides technical or professional support for operational/maintenance activities including facility system assessments, equipment maintenance and functional testing. Develops, implements and documents corrective actions for identified systems and equipment deficiencies and failures.
Interfaces with other groups within and outside the facility or area for a variety of assignments. Serves as administrative or technical primary point of contact on numerous programs, policies, procedures, projects and/or practices
Interprets and communicates site, company and/or departmental procedures or protocols
May function in a variety of contingency coordinator roles in support of operations. These can include emergency/fire/security, environmental/regulatory compliance, and nuclear material accountability among others.

Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED and relevant work experience preferably in operations, maintenance, engineering or related

Preferred Qualifications
Navy nuclear experienced personnel strongly encouraged to apply
Con-ops experience in Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard

USD $67,000.00/Yr.
