The Kaizen Company Data Analyst in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

As part of the USAID/Ethiopia Learning Analytics Activity, we are looking for a skilled and team-oriented Data Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for being a focal person between Kaizen and Client. The candidate will be responsible for implementing a variety of tools and approaches to process, interpret, organize, and transform data throughout the engagement. They will work closely with the Project's Solutions Architect and the Systems Analyst to develop the data analytics component of any solution that is created. 

Reports to: Technology & Data Director

Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Understanding the business requirements so as to formulate the problems to solve and restrict the slice of data to be explored.

  • Acquire data from different data sources and formats and maintain databases/pipelines.

  • Filter and “clean” data from data sources, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.

  • Design intuitive user interfaces and navigation flows for interactive dashboards, considering user needs and best practices in data visualization.

  • Conduct product editing and gather feedback to iterate and improve data visualization products.

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.

  • Develop and implement strategies for databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other tools that optimize decision making based on don data

  • Performing statistical analysis and experiments to derive business insights.

  • Clearly communicating the findings from the analysis to turn information into something actionable through reports, dashboards, and/or presentations.

  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets

  • Work closely with the Systems Analyst, GIS Specialist, Solution Architect and USAID mission staff to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, optimize data pipelines, and devise data governance strategies.

  • Preparing final analysis reports for the stakeholders to understand the data-analysis steps, enabling them to take important decisions based on various facts and trends.

  • Participate in Data Visualization capacity-building activities for USAID staff and their partners.

  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs.

    Qualifications

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in data science, Information Technology, Computer Science, Software engineering, or a related quantitative field.

  • Experience in Data Analysis, Data Engineering, Data Visualization, Data Management

  • Excellent problem-solving, Sound logical and analytical reasoning and numerical skills

  • Excel proficiency and knowledge of querying languages

  • Able to demonstrate expertise in data visualization and data analytics tools (Tableau, ArcGIS, Survey123, Python, Excel) and techniques.

  • Able to explain, communicate and present complex technical concepts to clients and business partners
