Performs advanced material tests and manufacturing process inspections in laboratories, plants and/or at points of supply. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Essential Duties:Handles problem calls from producers, suppliers, inspectors and construction project field personnel.Conducts safety and/or employee forum meetings.Coordinates test and inspection results with engineers, inspectors and material producers and suppliersDrives/travels to laboratories, manufacturing plants, points of supply, warehouses, and project sites to monitor status of programs, meet with supervisors and managers to resolve problems and perform unannounced inspection of operations.Handles material or production problems referred by less experienced inspectors. Investigates compaction problems associated with hot mix asphaltic concrete.Maintains and calibrates equipment.May serve as a lead worker and the related tasks.Performs tests and inspection duties.Prepares and maintains inspection or test reports and issues material reports.Reviews plans and material specifications for changes in material requirements.Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
