This Finance Manager role is responsible for the financial management of programs within the Under Water Systems product line including financial planning & analysis in accordance with the relevant accounting standard, legislation and company policies and procedures. This role provides guidance to the product line finance team and partners with the General Manager Under Water Systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing all financial aspects of programs within Under Water Systems Product Line, including set up of new projects on Financial Systems and ensuring appropriate project specific finance procedures are in place, monitoring program financial performance, timely and accurate sales and cash forecasting, and management of foreign currency issues in projects.

  • Providing expert advice on complex project financial matters to ensure successful execution and profitability of all projects within the Product Line.

  • Providing advice to senior program management on risk mitigation as related to financial outcomes throughout all phases of projects.

  • Contributing to the functioning of the Finance Leadership Team by driving achievement of the Finance vision, strategies and goals.

  • Providing accurate results, analysis and forecasts for Financial Planning and Analysis and Corporate Accounting for the Product Line.

  • Overseeing the development of Estimates at Completion and the financial input for Program Management Reviews.

  • Reviewing the Product Lines’ projects analysis of variances between actuals and budget and estimates to complete.

  • Ensuring appropriate and efficient project specific finance procedures are in place, drawing on similar processes conducted in other product lines in order to maintain consistency between them.

  • Ensuring timely and accurate billings for all projects and the subsequent collection of cash.

  • Monitoring key performance indicators of programs that drive financial performance and providing insight to action to drive improved results.

  • Providing guidance and financial oversight to the pricing of new business opportunities within issued guidelines.

  • Compliance with company critical policies relating to purchasing, basis of estimates, project reporting, revenue recognition, earned value management system, and Integrated Product Development System.

  • Travel will be required within Australia and may be required internationally to fulfil the requirements of this role.

  • Other duties as deemed relevant to program and operational requirements and within the technical competency of the position.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

  • Requires a University Degree in finance accounting, professional qualification (e.g., CPA, CA), and a minimum of 8 years prior relevant experience. Defence industry experience highly desirable along with Project Accounting leadership.

  • Previous experience and responsibility for making moderate to significant improvements of processes, systems, or products to enhance the performance of a work area.

  • Understanding and knowledge of AUS Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) / Accounting, US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and financial accounting requirements.

  • Knowledge of all the components of the company’s financial data and how they interrelate.

  • Experience establishing operational plans with a measurable contribution towards the achievement of results of the Function / Product Line.

  • Adaptable and able to make both timely and effective decisions.

  • Effective communication with all project stakeholders and leadership teams.
