The Opportunity:

WSP in Canada is currently seeking a Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Internal Communications Specialist to join our Marketing and Communications Team. Reporting to the Director, Internal Communications, the HSEQ Internal Communications Specialist works in close collaboration with the HSEQ team, taking day-to-day direction from a Senior Leader in HSEQ. This person will strive to engage and inform employees through innovative and outcome-focused communication strategies supporting HSEQ. The HSEQ Internal Communications Specialist is responsible for the development and dissemination of information in both official languages for all HSEQ activities and operations. All activities are undertaken to ensure that employees at WSP in Canada have access to important HSEQ information. The HSEQ internal Communications Specialist will work to build dynamic relationships with key persons in the HSEQ and Marketing and Communications teams both globally and regionally.

What you can expect to do here:

Planning and Strategy

  • Build constructive and efficient relationships with stakeholders to effectively advise on HSEQ internal communications and develop, implement and evaluate effective strategies, campaigns and plans based on best practices.

  • Support the implementation of HSEQ communications plans and strategies in alignment with the Communications Team’s plans and strategies.

  • Build HSEQ internal communication strategies to effectively mitigate risks and challenges associated with change initiatives.

Communication:

  • In alignment with the Canadian Communications strategy, support an agile, proactive and personalized HSEQ internal communication approach to better meet the needs of our employees:

  • By developing and implementing innovative HSEQ internal communications strategies to ensure consistent and effective communications with employees and managers.

  • By creating HSEQ content that is focused on the needs of different audiences and designed to generate change.

  • Develop key HSEQ messaging considering the target audience, communication channels, and timing to maximize impact.

  • Develop HSEQ informative materials and provide sessions to help employees adapt to new processes or technologies.

  • Assist the HSEQ leadership team in the development of presentations and key messaging to drive improved HSEQ identity in the organization.

  • Organize HSEQ initiatives and events

  • Assist HSEQ senior leadership in communication and ensure alignment with Global HSEQ leadership vision and mission.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in a similar role. Proven experience in communications.

  • University Degree/College Diploma in communication or in a related field, combined with an in-depth experience in communication.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Bilingualism is preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience in implementing internal HSEQ communications strategies in a changing environment.

  • Experience in working collaboratively with key stakeholders across the company and in influencing senior leaders.

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.

  • Microsoft Office suite (SharePoint, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

  • Previous HSEQ experience an asset.

  • Experience in the Energy, Mining or Oil and Gas sectors is a strong asset.
